Chapter 5 “I know we should not have attended the festival..” I whispered while looking at the full moon. “Perhaps this is the reason why there is something inside me that telling me not to go through with it. Now, he might think we are living near the buildings here.” “After all, I don’t want to go through the same pain anymore. It’s too much.” I added and sighed. “I don’t want my kid to go through the same pain. That would be horrible. I love him to death.” When I glanced at the bed beside us, I noticed that it was still empty, making me check the time. “It is already 10 pm, where the hell is Ali?” I asked myself and started looking for my phone. As soon as I got up, I started hearing multiple footsteps coming outside. I was taken aback, but I thought that it might be Ali, but when I peeked out the window, my eyes widened. A group of werewolves were looking at my house, and they seemed to have a plan to enter it. “Is this Xander’s pack?” I asked myself while looking for a potion inside a cabinet. When we moved to a new city, I started studying potions and magic, so I could protect our family in case of times like this. “Why are they here? Are they planning to break in?!” I tried not to make a noise while searching in cabinets but, a vase fell, creating a loud noise. I sighed and continued searching. I went to the third floor to search for it, and when I finally saw a pink liquid on a bottle, I immediately sprinted towards the entrance. When I arrive at our door, they are finally gone. I sighed in relief, but I found it odd. Why would they appear so suddenly in front of our house? As I walked towards the kitchen, I noticed that the back door was open. My eyes widened, and one thing ran inside my mind–my son. I sprinted towards our room, and I couldn’t believe my eyes when I didn’t see him there. Our room was completely destroyed, as well as, our living room. My heart dropped, and I started panicking. How could I live now, discovering that a group of wolves just kidnapped my son? “Santi? Santi?!” I started searching around the house, hoping to hear him respond and come out of nowhere. However, after three consecutive times of calling his name, he didn’t appear. I went out of our house and tried to look for any piece of evidence that could help me discover about the werewolves, and to my luck, I found a black patch with a golden arrow. “Wait, this seems familiar,” I whispered and inspected the patch. “This is the kind of patch that Xander used to show me before when they fought with other werewolves..” As I walked back to our house, I heard a ticking noise, which made me curious. I followed where the noise was coming from, and as I walked toward the bathroom i hadn’t entered yet, i saw a ticking bomb. I only have a minute left to run away, but I am thinking of whether to throw it outside since I don’t want to lose a house. “What should I do?” I asked myself while looking around. In the end, I chose to run. I know Ali might get mad, but what could I do? I don’t want to risk throwing the bomb outside. I can’t die, since I need to save my son. In a second, our house exploded. While looking at the remnants of our house, I can’t help but to think. “How did they enter our house? How the hell did they destroy some parts of our house without making a noise?” I asked myself. “Did they have some sort of magic?” “What happened?!” when I looked back, I found Ali holding a plastic bag. “What happened to our house?!” “Someone broke in, and they took Santi!” I cried. “They also left a bomb, the reason why I had to run outside.” I was about to come closer to hug her, but she dodged and started running towards the broken house. She kneeled in front of it and began crying. I know it must have been difficult for her since she used most of her money in improving the house. “I told you to wait for me at the festival right?” she sobbed. “Why did you leave?” I gulped and started walking towards her. “We saw…we saw Xander..” I whispered. She laughed and shook her head. “So i think that’s the reason why the house was destroyed. That damn guy. Did he do this?” “I think it has something to do with his rivals. I found their patch outside the house.” I explained and lifted the patch. “Besides, I know he won’t do this.” “What if he just wants you to think that way, considering that Santi was kidnapped?” “I know he won’t do that.” “You only know a side of him, Winter. How sure are you that he is not a wolf in sheep’s cloth?” Ali replied. “Now, what shall we do? We have nothing left, and we lost Santi.” “I am not sure..” I whispered. “I am still confused and worried, but I want to contact his father and ask for his help.” “Why would you contact the guy that ruined your life?” I felt a ringing inside my ear. “Tell me, are you using this as an opportunity to get him back? Winter, he is married!” “But he is our child! Is there anyone okay with their kids getting harmed?” “Oh really, is this about Santi? Is this really about him, or you are just using him?” as soon as Ali stood up, I slapped her face. She was taken aback, but I didn’t move. “You should be the one who knows me well, but it seems that you don’t know me at all, this is disappointing,” I uttered and started walking away. I have no idea where to go, but I will never give up.
