As ordered, no officer interfered with Cain as he stealthily made his way to the building holding an unknown number of assailants and hostages. Narrowing her eyelids till they were almost shut, Ashlyn noticed the closer he got to his destination, the harder it was for her to see him. Though there were not many shadows for hiding, Cain somehow was finding every one of them and blending in perfectly.
“Captain, we’ve lost visual contact with the emissary.” It was the voice of one of the officers coming over the radio. So had she. Cain had disappeared right before multiple sets of highly trained eyes.
“What now Matt? SWAT will be here soon, those news crews just beyond the perimeter will want an update soon, and the mayor is not going to want anything to upstage his big day.”
