Episode Seven: The First Time

398 Words
Elena hadn’t expected to feel his heat like this. It was quiet—too quiet—after the knock had faded, the shadow gone. She let out a shaky breath and tried to convince herself the danger was over. Caleb didn’t move to the couch this time. He stood behind her in the dim light of the kitchen, close enough that she could feel the weight of his body behind hers. Every instinct screamed at her to step away, but she didn’t. She couldn’t. “Your pulse is still racing,” he murmured, low and deliberate. His hand brushed the small of her back. “You’re not as calm as you think.” Elena’s stomach twisted. “I’m fine,” she said, though the words were empty. “You lied,” he whispered, closer now, the heat of his breath brushing her ear. “You’re terrified. And excited.” She froze. She hated how honest he made her feel. Hated that part of her wanted it. Caleb’s hand slid from her back to her waist, slow, intentional. She tensed—half resisting, half… wanting. “Look at me,” he said. Her eyes flicked up, meeting his. The darkness there wasn’t just shadow. It was promise. Danger. Desire. He didn’t wait for permission. He leaned down, brushing a careful, measured kiss against her neck. Just one. But it ignited something in her she hadn’t dared name. “Elena,” he murmured, voice low, raw. “Do not fight what you feel.” She shook her head, but her lips parted anyway. “I… I can’t—” “You can,” he cut her off. “You already are.” And then he pressed closer, chest against her back, hand sliding to her hip, pulling her into the warmth of him. Fear and need collided, twisting in her chest. She realized, suddenly, that the danger wasn’t outside anymore. It was right here, in his hands, in his presence, in the way he claimed her without asking. And she let him. Because some part of her had always wanted him to. Because some part of her wanted to be broken, to fall, to need him this badly. And when their bodies pressed together in the dim light of the apartment, Elena understood completely: This wasn’t protection. This wasn’t love. It was something far darker. And she was already addicted.
