Chapter 31 The room of the castle ruins suddenly felt small as the gargax hidden in the shadows spread his wings. Small shafts of light streaming through the crumbling ceiling gave just enough contrast to show the true size of the creature. Steigan raised his sword, crouching into a defensive stance. “Well,” said Dragzel. “My work here is done.” “He is deliveredz,” the gargax said, his tongue flicking awkwardly around massive fangs. “Cahaster, you are free to go.” “What!” Steigan protested, glancing sidelong for but a second as Dragzel scurried from the room. At once, the ceiling opened up. With horror, Steigan realized that it had just appeared to be a solid roof.
