Chapter Eight

When I woke up the next night, I found Korrack lying next to me, holding my hand. I got out of bed and tears immediately started falling. My movements and cries were noticed by Korrack. He stretches his arm out, trying to touch me. “La Mia piccola Stella, what’s the matter?” “She was out, wasn’t she?” “Don’t worry about it, my child. She was out, but you don’t need to dwell on that. It’s time to freshen up so we can bring Morifirer back.” “Why do I always lose my cool when I lose one of you guys?” Korrack closed the distance between us and enveloped me in his arms. He allowed me to cry until I finished. When my tears stopped, I wiped my eyes, stood up, and walked towards my closet. Korrack occupied the bed, anticipating my arrival. I quickly picked up my clothing and made a beeline for the bathroom. I’ve reached my limit with this angelus mortis style that doesn’t match my personality. Upon exiting the bathroom, I found Korrack sitting on my side of the bed, holding onto a cup of hot chamomile tea. “Now you should start feeling better.” “Yes, I appreciate it.” He gave me the tea and planted a gentle kiss on my forehead. He stood up and made his way to the bathroom. The sound of running water in the sink reached my ears. I knew I had gone too far with him in my Rozetta persona. Upon emerging, he wiped his face and dried his hair. “Can I take a guess? I’ve pushed you beyond your limits.” “Your actions made my eyes transform into a ruby red color. You tossed Amolio, or rather Alaric, against the wall. You also have Brutus in the basement, terrified for his life.” I let out a chuckle. “Damn anything else. It’s important for me to understand my actions.” “Yes, you kind of ignited the theater with a vampire inside at sunrise.” “Is that the extent of it?” “That’s the end.” “Alright, this time it’s not as terrible as you might think.” “It’s not that severe, but you should be prepared to handle the aftermath.” “I know.” A knock came from my bedroom door, and Amolio cautiously looked in. “Is it okay for me to come inside without any harm?” “Certainly, Alaric.” “My name is Amolio, not Alaric. I think your throw caused him to move backward.” “Feel free to enter. I will require the presence of my baby/big brother.” “Hey. Just because you reached 21 before me, doesn’t mean I’m a child.” “Do you have a plan?” “Rosie, your first priority should be damage control.” “I’m available to lend you a hand, Korrack. You’re aware of that, aren’t you?” “Before it gets out of hand, I need you to help me with damage control. After that, we’ll go and get Morifirer.” “Alright. Amolio, how extensive was the fire and who was inside?” “Use your magical powers to ignite the fire. There was twenty less than hundreds year old. I’m not familiar with them. Once we witnessed Korrack taking you away, I instructed Abigail to head towards the cottage.” “Okay. Nobody from the family was present.” “No family was harmed in the fire. Thankfully.” I have completed drinking my tea. The anger lingered, but its intensity was so minimal that I disregarded it. I need to concentrate on getting this cleaned up and finding Morifirer. “Everything alright, Rosie?” “Sorry about that. Yes. Why?” “You got up and walked over to the window. We attempted to call you, but nothing. What are you thinking about?” I tilt my head down when responding to Korrack’s questions. “I’m okay, just reflecting on my tasks at hand. It’s been ages since I last did this.” “No one has provoked you to lose control in over a century.” “I don’t want you to remember me.” Korrack stood up and approached me. He gently touches my shoulders with his hands. My head was lifted by him, enabling him to peer into my eyes. “Your leadership skills are exceptional, and you are a remarkable person. Don’t allow what she did affect you. You were acting out of character. If someone cannot forgive you for your actions. I should be the one, but I forgive you, La Mia piccolo Stella.” “Thank you, Korrack, for everything.” He embraced me and then snatched the tea cup from my grasp. The two of them left through the door. I remained there for a little longer, attempting to regain control of my thoughts. Once I gained control over it. I quickly grabbed my Bröthen cloak and rushed downstairs. I threw it over my shoulder while descending the staircase. Both Korrack and Amolio were waiting downstairs for me. “Ready to go.” Jumping from the second to last step, I successfully land on my feet. Letting the cloak gently float down to my side. “I’ll follow your lead,” I said, pulling the hood over my head. Korrack assumed the lead, with me following, and Amolio following me. We arrived at the theater relatively quickly. Upon arrival, there was a gathering of individuals surrounding the burned structure. Witnessing the approaching person, they made way for me to have a conversation with them. They pay their respects by bowing their heads when I pass by. I gave a gesture of courtesy to each of them with a nod. When I finally reached the front of the crowd. I discovered a location where I could be seen and heard by everyone. Korrack went to my left and Amolio went to my right. “Greetings, everyone. Something troublesome took place here a day or two ago. I’m available to answer your questions, but I kindly request that you ask them individually.” One of the women in the front moved forward. “Have you been informed about the incident that occurred here?” “I am familiar with the events that took place here.” Public speaking was something I despised. I was always lacking in skill for that. There was an unsettling atmosphere in the crowd, and someone even threw something at me. Despite my attempts to calm everyone down, nothing worked. Despite my efforts to calm them down, they became even louder and more restless. I reached my limit and bid everyone a good night, then followed Korrack out of the area. I decided to uncover my head once we had distanced ourselves. “Your performance was outstanding. Improved from the previous version. You were aware of the pointlessness and decided to depart.” “I hate having to leave them like that. I just have a bad feeling about that crowd. Something is not right with them.” “You picked up on that as well.” “Yes, I did… I have to go back there and figure it out.” “Oh, no you don’t.” Korrack and Amolio both said at the say time. As Korrack grabs my arm, and Amolio turns me back around. They had to push and pulled me away from the area. I know why they were doing it. I would still stand up there trying to get them to calm down and go on for days. It would be a useless attempt on my behalf. The one thing I learn from my life it is that when you have a crowd of restless vampires, you don’t know what’s going to happen. It’s better to walk away than to calm them down. “We need you to help us now, Rosie.” “Okay, fine, but I know something is going to happen.” “You can have that feeling, but we need your help on getting Morifirer back before we lose you again.” “Right. Morifirer.” My mind kept think about what he is going to think about the fact I lose control again. The lost time I lose control was back in 1906 in San Francisco. Luckily there was an earthquake and people to cover up the fire.
