Kara's POV The stars shone brightly, they looked like small fireflies adorning the night sky. Kara shivered as the cool air of the night breeze brushed against her skin causing small goosebumps to appear. She rubbed her hands up and down her arms to keep herself warm. The trees swayed back and forth as the wind blew each branch in a synced rhythm. "Where am I?" Kara asked nervously as she examined her environment. There were trees as tall as a skyscraper, dry leaves and twigs scattered across the ground making a bed on the forest ground. They crunched and break as Kara strolled through the forest searching for an exit. "Kara" Kara heard someone calling her name in a whisper, it sounded like they were right beside her, yet so far away. She glanced behind her, but there was no one there, she franticly searched her surroundings for the voice. "Kara" As she went deeper into the forest and the voice got louder and louder until she stumbled upon a huge tree that appears to be around three hundred years old or more. Kara went closer to it and placed her hand on its rough surface, right then a woman appeared behind the tree. "Kara" the woman called one more. "Mom?" Kara asked, a woman appeared from behind the tree wearing a long light blue dress, her midnight black hair flowing gracefully around her shoulders, she looked just like a queen. "Kara my sweet baby girl." Her mother said as she pulled her in for a hug. Tears welled up in Kara's eyes as her mother gently approached her. She has not seen her mother in over ten years when she was murdered along with her entire pack. Wait, is she dreaming? Why does this feel so real, Kara thought. "Oh, mom I have missed you so much." She said as she cried. "I want you and dad to come home. I want our pack to come home." Her mother embraced her tightly, Kara held on to her mother fearing that if she let go her mother would slip away once more. "And I miss you, my sweet girl." Her mother replied. "But you must be aware, a darkness lurks in the mist. You need to keep your friends close to you or else you might lose them all." Her mother finished in an airy voice. Kara pulled away from her but as she was about to ask her why she said that, her mother was nowhere in sight. The sky was now filled with the light of the moon which was slowly becoming darker as it hid behind the clouds that invaded the sky. The cool autumn breeze stopped and the trees stopped their dance, the night became still and a wary feeling came over Kara as she saw a clearing leading out of the forest. She went towards the entrance and saw hundreds of lifeless bodies scattered across the ground, in the center of it was a small child crying while holding something in her hands. "Hey, are you ok?" Kara asked as she slowly approached the child. hse slowly tapped on the child's shoulder she turned to face her and all the blood drained from her face. On the ground before her was her twelve-year-old self clutching onto her mother's hand as she cried hysterically. Kara's eyes filled with tears as she took a step back trying to get away from the child in front of her but she stepped on one of the bodies instead and fell to the ground, she hurriedly tried to get back up but hands appear out of nowhere and started dragging her to the ground. Kara screamed as darkness began to suck her into its midst. "No!" Kara screamed as she opened her eyes. She searched frantically around her trying to figure out where she was. She stopped her search when her eyes landed on a figure before her. "Ah?" Lara shouted. "Hey, hey," A voice said while grabbing her hands and keeping her steady. "You're ok," someone said. Kara felt as if someone wrapped their arms around her and held her in a warm embrace. She felt safe, she closed her eyes and finally relaxed. They stayed like that for what felt like an eternity until Kara fell back into the world of dreams. James POV Kara's eyes widen as James wrapped his arms around her. She was shaking uncontrollably and James wanted to make all her fears disappear. "Hey, hey," he said, trying to soothe her, "You're ok". He felt her relax in his arms, they stayed like that for a while until he heard her breathing slow and she fell asleep. James stared longly at Kara's sleeping frame. She looks so peaceful and delicate, she is as fragile as a snowflake that destroyed anything she lays her eyes on. James smiled at the thought, he remembered how small and weak she once was, would she have become the person she is today if he had not rejected her? He based himself. "She would have become the woman she is meant to be no matter the road she takes." James immediately released his hold on Kara as he heard Luke's voice. How did he? Was he speaking out loud? James questioned himself. He sighed and glanced at Kara as she slept. "You're right," he said, "whether I'd accepted her or not she would still have become the woman she is. I was just young, impatient, and foolish back then, I saw a weak, helpless girl who the pack walks over instead of my mate, a queen and a powerful Luna." He finished as he placed his face in his palm. "I regret ever rejecting her, now I wish I could take it all back." He released a sigh of relief and headed towards the door. He opened the door to leave but Luke stopped him. "Oh yes, I almost forgot. Cameron needs to see you, he's in your office it's urgent." Luke said. James nodded taking one last glance at Kara before he left. ********** James entered his office to find Cameron and a few of the pack warriors, they gathered around a large table that sat in the middle of the room which can seat around eight people listening to Cameron as he discussed different strategies with them. "What? What happened?" James asked. The men all looked in the direction where the voice came from, when they recognized that it was their Alpha they all stood straight and welcomed him. James went to his desk and sat down. "Now, can someone tell me what's going on?" He asked searching the room for someone to answer. Everyone stared at Cameron, he sighed and spoke. "We found the rogues that attacked you and Kara." He stared, James, straightened in his chair as his beta spoke. "After they had attacked you guys they didn't end up far because of their injuries. We managed to capture two of them. Based on the description you gave us it didn't seem like their leader was there, either that or they don't have any." Camron continued, "We tried questioning them but they refuse to talk." He finished. "Don't rogue normally stay by themselves? Why would they form allies with each other?" Nicalouse asked, he is the commander of the pack's warriors, he is naturally skilled at combat even at a young age so the alpha made him, commander, in order to train and strengthen their pack. "Yes that's one thing I'd like to figure out myself," James said. "I think they might be out to kill your Alpha," A guy said, he leaned against the wall with his hands folded. Adam is the gamma of the Blue Moon pack, he came along with Kara and the others, he was a part of the meeting as a representativity of the Blue moon pack along with two of their warriors. Everyone turned to look at him as he spoke. "For all the times they've attacked the pack they targeted you," Adam said as he stared at James who had a puzzled look on his face. James straightened and place his hands on his desk and ask, "why would they target me I've only become alpha five years ago. There is no way I can piss off so many rogues all at once." James finished leaning against his chair. "Yea you haven't, but your dare old daddy did," Adam said. James' shocked expression didn't go unnoticed by Adam but he quickly changed to one of anger yet deep in thought. Maybe Adam is right, he remembered the things his father did when he was alpha. Once when James when around twelve years old, his father slaughtered an entire pack all because they were against an alliance with them, his father wanted the alliance so he could rule over both lands. James heard his father discussing with his mother that he was going to terminate the alpha and luna along with their kids so he could rule the entire pack, but the alpha and luna had already known of the ambush and were ready for the attack. Yet his father still managed to s*******r the entire pack with no survivors. So it could be anyone, James thought. "So what's the plan?" Cameron asked. James sighed, "torture them, don't stop until they give you a definite answer. We need to figure out who's behind this and why, before it's too late." He said as he rose from his chair and headed towards the door. "I'm going to see Kara." He said and left the room. They all thought the same when James exited the room, could Kara be his mate? But little do they know.
