Chapter 3

Kara's POV Kara woke up with a throbbing headache, she sat up in her bed and opened her eyes as it dawned on her, she realized this was not her attic room in the packhouse. She franticly searched the room trying to figure out where she was. There was a double bed sitting in the center of the room with two nightstands on either side, a small desk, and a chair sitting in a corner of the room. There was a door leading to a small bathroom with a portable closet near the opening of it. There was a rustling noise at the door leading into the bedroom. Kara jumped further on the bed, startled by the noise. Was she kidn*pped by rogues? Did they sell her to some psychopath who was going to torture her and do as he pleased with her body? Kara took a stand, fearing her thoughts were true. Her wolf was about to take over when the door burst open. There stood a 6-foot-tall, built figure, with pitch-black hair and menacing brown eyes. He looked calm yet deadly. Kara gulped, wondering what this man was about to do to her, as she readied her stance to fight the man spoke first. "I am Alpha Hudson of Blue Moon pack, my men found you passed out on our borders." He said calmly as he pulled the chair from underneath the desk and sat down, his gaze met Kara's once more. " Why were you trespassing on my territory?" He asked much more seriously than he did not too long ago. Kara shifted uncomfortably back and forth as the alpha stared her down. " Ah.....I....sorry I didn't mean to trespass sir, I had no idea I was on another pack's territory," she said as she swallowed the lump that was forming in her throat. "I was only just looking for a pack to join," she said in a rather low tone. Alpha Hudson studied her for a few minutes before he replied, " OK, I'll let you stay, but under one condition." *********************************Five Years Later**************************************************** Sweat dripped off Kara as she pulled the trigger. The silver bullet soared through the air and pierced the target right in the heart. She practiced a few more times, hitting each target in the head or chest and knocking them over. It had been five years since she joined the Blue Moon pack and she had never felt more at home. She felt loved and cared for here, which she never thought she would get from anyone but her mate. She finally had friends and a place she could call home. Why did she ever think only her mate could make her happy. She chuckled at how stupid and naive she was back then as she hit another target in its head. She imagined each target she hit was James, her former mate. "Tsk, James." She spat on the ground trying to remove the bitterness as his name rolled off her lips. "Kara" She heard Alpha Hudson calling her through their mind link. "Yes Alpha?" She asked questioningly. "I need to speak with you. Meet me at the packhouse now," he said. " OK, on my way to Alpha", She replied by ending the mind link. She reloaded her gun and strapped it back on her leg along with a few knives and another gun and left the training room. As she entered, she saw her friend Alexis. She met her on her second day here when the Alpha introduced her to the pack, telling them she would be joining them. Everyone was a bit skeptical towards Kara at first because they thought she was some spy for another pack, but Alexis didn't care about any of that. She started talking to her and they became inseparable. She helped Kara with getting over her rejection and taking care of her body. Now she is unrecognizable, and a lot more confident in herself. "Hey girl, wanna catch a movie later?" Alexis asked, combing what seemed to be powder from her hair. Kara smiled at her struggle. "Yeah sure, I'll just check my schedule and let you know." She replied, wiping the sweat off her forehead. "Kara, you look tired, you need a day off," Alexis said, her face laced with concern. "Yeah I know, I will soon, but I have to go see the Alpha, we'll catch up later, OK?" Kara said, heading towards the Alpha's study. " OK, bye." Alexis waved as she opened the door leading outside. Kara taped on the door leading to the Alphas study, he answered signaling her to enter. She opened the door and bowed as she stood in front of the huge wooden desk. Alpha Hudson sat behind the desk, with his hands crossed, intensely reading. "Kara, I have some good news......." He said, trailing off, "and some bad news." he finished. Kara's smile immediately fell and was replaced by a frown. She sighed, great just when she thought she was about to get a break. Alpha Hudson began, "Alpha James asked for our alliance in the upcoming war. Turns out they have been having multiple rogue attacks and they keep multiplying and growing stronger each day. I'm gonna need you to go along with Jason and my beta and a few soldiers to help train them". He finished. "With all due respect, alpha, I have to decline." She answered. "That was not a request." Alpha Hudson replied. He pushed back his chair and fixed his suit as he stood. For a man in his late forties, he looked well built, causing any girl to fall head over heels for him. "Sir, you know damn well I can't stand James, much less to go back to that place. You know what they did to me. You have plenty of skilled soldiers. Why not send them, why do I have to go?" Kara exclaimed, the memory of what the pack members did to her while she lived there and memories of when James, her mate, was about to reject her flashed through her mind, fueling her anger. "You know why you have to go. You and Jason are the best-skilled fighters we have and anyone can teach them in such a short time." Alpha Hudson said as he held her by the arm and pushed her through the door, "Just use this as an excuse to beat the life out of him for all they did to you." He said, he slammed the door shut before Kara could say anything else. **********
