Leon's POV
"It's her." He said.
"Ah, I knew it." Alpha Hudson replied. "I want you to stay there, help them defend against the Nightwalkers." he finished with a sinister laugh.
" Also, kill the Alpha while you're at it. He has proven to be nothing but a mere distraction for our little prodigy." He said.
"Yes, Alpha," Luke replied. Leon watched as Luke straightened and headed towards the Bood Thirst pack house. So they have discovered her secret. So Leon thought as he headed towards the men guarding the pack gates.
"It's time," He said as one of the guards handed him a set of keys. He placed them in his pocket and left.
"Kara, I'm fine," Raynor said as he held Kara's hand, "I just needed some fresh air, that's all." He told her.
"OK, well, now we have to find a way to help James and his pack," Kara said.
"Why are you so quick to help them after all they've done to you?" Raynor replied. "They didn't accept you as their own, so why help them now? I think they should perish for all the evil they have done and the packs they've slaughtered." He finished, anger lacing his face as he spoke.
"Whatever they've done is in the past, and I have become a better person now. So I'm over it," She said.
"What if they were the ones who murdered your...." Raynor started but was cut short as Leon spoke
"Raynor is right. Why do you still see the need to protect them? Is it because you're in love with their Alpha?" Leon said with curious eyes. A shocked expression was written all over her face, but she quickly composed herself. That was enough to confirm Leon's suspicions that she was indeed Alpha James' mate.
"It's my fault that they are being targeted, and now the Blue Moon pack has cut their alliance with them, and Luke is forcing us to leave. So I have to stay and help." She told them. "Besides, you guys are my pack. I couldn't leave you once I knew you were alive." She said as she stepped closer to them.
"Well, you've got what you wanted," Jason said as he approached them.
"what do you mean?" She asked.
"Turns out our alpha agrees with you and decides he will keep the alliance he made with the Blood Thirst pack and help defend against the Nightwalkers." He replied. Leon glanced at Raynor, who was listening to the conversation intensely.
"That's unexpected but great. Does James know?" She asked.
"Luke is on his way to inform him as we speak," Jason replied.
"Really, but I didn't even speak to Alpha Hudson as yet," Kara said with a puzzled look on her face.
"Do you think it might have been Luke who persuades him?" Jason asked.
"With the way he reacted earlier, I doubt it was him unless....." Kara trailed, staring at the ground as she thought.
"Unless what?" Leon asked with curious eyes. Kara glanced at him, then at Raynor her gaze lingered on him for a while before she turned her attention back to Leon.
"Nothing," She replied. Leon knew she had an idea as to why their Alpha suddenly changed his mind. Is it the same as he thought? It might have been related to what he overheard their Beta say, but does Kara know? She seems unaware of her own power.
"Luke instructed that we should head to the training ground to continue with training the pack. Alexis and Cameron are already there." Jason spoke, breaking the thick silence that had formed in the air. Kara looked at Jason and then nodded.
"Yea, let's go then," She replied. "Are you guys coming?" she asked Leon and Raynor.
"I'm feeling a bit tired, I should head back and rest," Raynor answered with a slight yawn.
"I should make sure he gets back and rest," Leon replied as he grabbed Raynor by the arm, leading him back to the infirmary. Once they were at a good enough distance away from the others, Leon released Raynor's hand and glanced back to ensure they were both gone.
"They know about her." He told Raynor, who placed his fingers on his cheek.
"Is that so?" He replied, "Keep an eye on her in case they try anything." Raynor told him as he slowly walked away.
Leon glanced in the direction of the training grounds where Kara and Jason went as he set off in the same direction.
Kara's POV
"Is something wrong?" Jason asked as they reached the training ground. Kara, who was deep in thought, continued walking without a glance at Jason. She tripped over a kid that was doing push-ups on the ground, she stumbled and was about to fall when Jason grabbed her by the arm and pulled her towards him. Her face hit his chest as he held her tight.
"Are you ok?" He asked, still holding on to her. Kara's face began burning a bright shade of red, her thoughts began to crumble as the kiss she shared with Jason started to take over her mind. James' face popped into her head, and she pushed Jason away from her as she stepped back.
"Sorry," Jason mumbled to the person Kara tripped over.
What? Why am I thinking of him? Even though he is my mate, and we shared a kiss once, that doesn't mean I have feelings for him. That's right, I don't. Besides, my plan is simple, lead him on, let him think I'm falling for him, and when his heart is completely filled with love for me, I'll reject him on the spot. A satirical smile formed on her face as she stared at her feet as her crazy thoughts reminisced in her mind.
"Is everything alright?" Jason asked with a scared look in his eyes. He knew once Kara had that look on her face she that she was planning something evil.
"Huh?" She asked, back to reality.
"I was sinking you're ok? You seemed to be deep in thought there?" Jason replied.
"Oh yea, I'm ok. Thanks," she replied. Kara scanned the grounds for Alexis, she spotted her teaching a group of warriors how to assemble their weapons.
"Are we even gonna need those?" someone from the group asked Alexis. "With everyone shifting and fighting, will we even need a weapon?" they finished.
"There are persons who haven't shifted as yet or have any connection with their wolfs, so it's best to have those who as unable to shift use weapons to fight," Alexis replied, as she explained.
"Who's idea was it to give wolfs guns?" A woman asked.
"It was mine," Kara replied as she approached the crowd.
"Kara, long time no see," The woman said as she parted from the crowd. "It's a miracle what a bit of makeup can do for a person."
"Milana," Kara spat, the name tasting bitter on her lips as she saw the face of her high school bully.
Milana unnaturally swayed her hips as she approached Kara. "I heard you came back, I just didn't think it was true." She said as she looked at Kara from head to toe. "You look decent enough, did you get a makeover thinking you could come back here and win James over?" She asked.
Anger, loathe, and detest filled Kara's mind as she glared daggers at Milana. The words she said did not have any effect on her, but the memories of her past and all she did to her replayed in her mind like a video placed on a loop.
"Don't think I don't know what happened between you two before you left." She continues, "You threw yourself at him, and he was discussed by your filthy appearance, and he refused you, so you ran away. James will always choose me, no matter how much you've changed." She laughed historically.
Kara wanted to grab her by the neck and punch that smile off her face. "How dare she speak to us like that about our mate. Please let me rip her head off," Amelia growled. HE IS NOT OUR MATE! Kara clenched her fist, her eyes glowed a bright yellow as she stepped closer to Milana. She was about to grab her by the neck and hit her repeatedly, but Jason grabbed her arm before she could act.
"Don't let her get to you," he whispered to her.
"Ahh, who's this?" Milana asked, staring at Jason, her eyes moved to where he held Kara's hand and then back to his face. " Your new toy? I must admit you have great taste in men. He's not too bad on the eyes, I will admit." Milana finished as she bit her lips.
"Everyone get back to training," Cameron said as she joined the scene. Everyone scurried across the training field, leaving Milana as she tried to provoke Kara. Alexis, who still has the pistol in her hand, was about to hand it to Kara when Cameron grabbed her by the arm.
"Don't even think about it," He told her in a severe tone. "Milana, you should get back to the pack house. You are of no use out here." Cameron told her.
"Humph," Milana replied as she turned to glare at him and then left.
"Hey don't let that little pest get you down," Alexis said as she place her arms around Kara. Kara relaxed and smiled at her with a slight nod.
"Look at it this way when their pack does get attacked a stray bullet may end up in her direction in the heat of battle," Alexis said with a sly smile.
"I'm glad someone other than our enemies will benefit from our pack's demise," Cameron said sarcastically. He took Alexis' arm as he led her toward the group she is supposed to be training. "We need to have a serious talk about your tactics." He told her.
"Are you ok?" Jason questioned as he stared at Kara who had a slight smile on her face. "a penny for your thoughts?"
"Huh?" She replied,
"Please don't tell me you're gonna take up Alexis on her plan?" He asked worriedly.
"Hm maybe," she replied as she strode away.
Five hours later
"Today went surprisingly well, with the morning we had," Alexis said as they head back towards the pack house.
"Yeah what a day it was," Jason replied.
Kara nodded as she opened the door to the pack house. She stopped abruptly, horrid memories of her crucial past flooded her mind as she stared at the woman standing before her. Her long brown hair was styled in its usual ponytail that would sway whenever she walks, her lips were stained with the same red lipstick she would normally wear as she spat acrimonious words at her. Her eyes, those eyes, were still filled with hate and rage. As if adding flames to gasoline her fury ignites as her eyes met Kara's.
"Mrs. Laurance," Kara whispered as she stared at the woman who made her childhood in the Blood Thirst pack a living hell.
