Chapter 3

I safely made it on to unclaimed territory, it could be more dangerous out here some could debate as all the rogues which were wolves branded as traitors and kicked out of their packs or lone wolves who decided to leave but the latter is more uncommon and rarely heard of although does happen sometimes. I began to scope out the area and sniff for any recent scents around. All the other scents around were so faded that I could tell no one was here anymore so I happened upon a small cave and sought shelter from the merciless rain and unforgiving thunder and lightning right now. Now most people find this sort of weather frightening but i’m the opposite, it’s so tranquil and lulls me to peace. This was far more peace than I received before surrounded by those I should blindly trust as they are branded as my ‘pack mates’. PFFT! Ridiculous if you ask me. DRIP A raindrop splashes on my forehead breaking me from my reminiscing. I look up and suddenly become aware of the decrease in temperature, deciding I would survive all I have been put through I would rather not death by hypothermia so I begin to change into my wolf Aurora. She just huffs in my head and curls back up into a ball. I wake up sensing the morning sun has set, the sun is now proudly shining and birds are chirping. Deciding not to push my luck here any longer I set out heading North. After about an hour of running we begin to get hungry so start to hunt. Laying down I strain Auroras ears for any signs of other animals in the forrest. Suddenly, we hear a deer about 10 metres ahead so we stealthily sneak over staying hidden in the bushes and locate it. We camp out behind a bush silently watching ready for the perfect moment to strike. The deer leaves its jugular wide open reaching down to eat and as I pierce through the air to reach the wind is knocked out of me. CRASH! A caramel coloured wolf is barring his teeth at me like this was not my prey to begin with! Too quick to be notice even by a wolfs eye I sped at him in a blur and knocked this unknown wolf in its head, that ought to knock some sense in. A growl caught my attention but it did nothing to affect me, I simply stood at my full wolfy height while it lowered its head in submission and barred my teeth at it. The growling then stopped. A small whimpering could be heard and i looked to caramel coloured wolf to see it completely down to the ground head lowered in submission, baring it’s neck. Huh confusing. Who is this wolf submitting to? Looking around to see any others, I could not sense anyone. Returning my focus the whimpering continues so I nudged the smaller wolf with my snout to prove I would not harm it. Slowly it lowers its head and I see fear and confusion in its eyes. I trot along behind a bush and shift back putting on an old t shirt and returned to the younger wolf. ‘Shift back now’ There was power and authority in my voice that shocked me a little but could not show weakness anymore. To my astonishment the smaller wolf turned into human form and was no other than a scrawny young boy. I could see why he was so fiercely attempting to catch some prey. Strangely I feel connected to this younger boy and my wolf Aurora ja just as confused as me about it but feels just as protective. Who is this young wolf?
