Song- All The Pretty Girls by KALEO
…/…
I was shocked to see Tyler because it was not five pm yet, but I opened the door for him anyway. “Hi, I decided to come early so I could meet your suitemates first. Zach wanted to come too but I told him no”.
“Well, I’m grateful you didn’t bring him, that boy’s a douche,” I say while shutting the door as Ty walks in. I turn around to see Tyler just standing, looking at my suitemates, smiling, and then, I look forward, just in time to see them looking at Tyler dreamily, even Lexie, ID’s expected, I really don’t know how her boyfriend does it.
“Guys, meet Tyler”. They still stared for a few seconds, then I became worried. “Guys!” I yelled. Jane was the first to walk forward, hurriedly, if I may add, “Hi, I’m Jane and very much single”. I gasp and so does ID because that is so unlike her.
“Hi, Single Jane,” Ty replies, smiling at her as he shakes her hand. Jane smiles in response, but hers is definitely flirtatious. “Hi, I’m ID, not single, but can I just say that you are fine young sir”. I gasp again but so does Jane, although I can sense that hers is stemming from feeling betrayed that ID is flirting with Ty too.
Tyler says thank you to ID’s compliment and then says he’s happy to meet her. Lexie is about to introduce herself but Jane jumps in, saying, “Oh no you don’t! Tyler, that’s Lexie. Just Lexie”. I couldn’t hold it in anymore so I started laughing right there.
“Hi, Just Lexie,” Tyler says to her. She sketches a salute in response and says, “I have to head out now, got skateboarding practice”. “Oh, that’s cool. I skate too,” Tyler says to her. “Amazing! You could teach me, I’ve been wanting to learn for a while now,” Jane interrupted.
I burst into another round of laughter again, majorly because of Lexie’s face. We haven’t known each other for the longest time but we already know our likes and dislikes to a pretty decent extent. “Sure,” Lexie says to Jane. “Bye guys,” she says before leaving the suite. Tyler, ID, and I respond and then she says, “Bye Jane”. “Bye, Lexie,” Jane says, blinking rapidly.
I couldn’t blame Jane for wanting to bag Ty, who wouldn’t, except me anyway. Ty is almost 6’2, which makes him pretty tall and his muscles are huge. He isn’t exactly buff, but he’s the right fit. He has auburn hair that’s long but he packs it into a bun sometimes and that can be a turn-on for some, but definitely not me, plus I don’t think Jane is into that, but let’s just see what she’s trying to play at.
“So, Ty, you still want that tour or are you cool here, plus where are the Oreos?” I asked. “Just knew you’d still be obsessed,” he says, pretty sure of himself, not like I expected him to forget. He hands me a bag filled with three Oreos. I’m so glad that I can’t help but squeal in excitement.
“Hey, remember when you used to squash the Oreos and put them in a bowl, then pour milk into it,” Ty says. “Yeah,” I say with excitement. “I used to take it like cereal and I used to convince this one over here to give it a try,” I say to ID and Jane. “Did you ever try it out?” Jane asks him. “Nope! Never did”.
“Good! Because I think Charlotte looks for different ways to poison people and she was just trying to kill you,” ID says. “My thoughts exactly, then and now,” Ty says. I scoffed and rolled my eyes at all of them. “You’re smart and you value your life, good for you,” ID responded. “Okay kids, I’m going to see your father now, please, be good, and yeah, put a leash on this one, if you can,” she says referring to Jane. Jane makes a face at ID while both Ty and I say bye. “Say hi to Ian for me,” I yelled as she leaves the suite.
“I’m guessing that’s our father,” Ty says, trying to figure out what ID meant. “Yup,” I replied. “You’re so funny”. I watch Jane completely throw herself at Tyler but she’s doing it with so much class. I would’ve never been able to pull that off. “Course he is”.
“So, Ty, are you still down for the tour cause it’s either that or I go watch my series in peace whilst munching on that beauty right there of course,” I say, pointing to the Oreos in the bag. “Uhm,” Ty drags out, looking between me and Jane. “I think I’ll just hang out with Single Jane here if she wants me to”.
Jane hits his chest in a playful manner because he says ‘Single Jane’. “Best decision to make Tyler”. “Oh, it’s Ty to you now,” he says to Jane. “Okay,” I dragged out. “I’ll just grab this and that,” I say, taking the ice cream bucket and the bag with Oreos, “And I’ll be in there. Don’t do what I wouldn’t do, kids” I yelled as I shut the door to my room.
I quickly drop the items on my bed and open the door, “I heard your eyes roll”. “Course you did,” Jane says. I slam the door shut and set up my ideal version of the best way to spend an evening when academics aren’t in the way.
I put on my laptop and it automatically connects to the internet, making Netflix accessible, then I get into my most comfortable evening attire; hoodie, joggers, and socks. The sun began to set so I turned off the lights for that cool evening glow. Even though it’s cold outside, I don’t leave the windows open because the A/C is on.
I grab the bucket of ice cream and empty the Oreos into it, reserving one for my midnight snack because I knew I’d fall asleep and then wake up and be hungry. The lucky series I’m about to start is Manifest, well at least, the last ten episodes of it.
As I’m about to start, my phone rings. “And this, people, is why I always put my phone on DND before I start binge-watching a series,” I say to no one in particular. I picked up my phone to see Bryan’s name on the screen.
“Hey,” I said, confusion totally lacing my tone. “Hi, I know it’s weird that I’m calling at this hour but I was wondering if you would love to have dinner with me. I know this amazing food hut and I’d really love it if you came to check it out with me”.
I’m about to tell him why I can’t follow him but then he interrupts me saying, “I know you’re not ready to go out on a date yet and that’s why this isn’t a date. It’s just two people who happen to love good food going to check out an amazing place that happens to serve good food”.
I wait for him to explain, then I sigh and say, “Wanna come over instead?” “Really? Like to your apartment?” “Yeah,” I tried to explain the cozy situation I was in but words failed me, so I switched the voice call to video call so he’d see for himself.
“Sweet! Text me the address. I’ll be there soon,” and then he hung up. What did I just do? I invited him to my room. It’s not a huge mess, but it might be a mess according to his standards; he’s such a clean boy. I get up to start arranging my stuff and I try to make it cleaner so he’d like it.
It doesn’t take up to thirty minutes before there’s a knock on the door to our suite. I opened the door and walked to the living room to see Ty and Jane all cuddled up, watching a series. I guess he didn’t have to go so far then, cute!
“Hey,” I said as I opened the door. I’m immediately swept off my feet by his cologne, it’s too intoxicating and it just envelopes me. I leaned in to hug him when he smiled at me. “Welcome to my jungle!” I said as I stepped aside so he could enter the suite.
“Oh, hi Tyler,” Bryan said as he entered the living room. “That’s my roommate, Jane, the others are out”. Jane waves to Bryan and Bryan says hi to her. I led Bryan to my room. “I’m sorry if it’s too cold, I was having a moment by myself”.
“Nah, your room is beautiful. I was admiring your suite but I didn’t know that your room would be this nice”. “Yeah? I decorated it myself,” I said with a proud smile plastered on my face. “Wow, that’s pretty impressive! And you drew these yourself?”
“Yup! I did. I was bored when I came during the first week of school, but then they are on paper though. I don’t want to get arrested by the school for defacing their walls”. “Yeah, that’s right”. “Alright! Enough compliments, let’s watch this series”.
