CHAPTER 3

"Gideon!" Arabella's voice echoed around the warehouse, her scream cutting through the sudden, stifling silence like a sharp knife. Her heart pounded in her chest, her breath hitching as she watched Gideon's body slump to the floor, thrown across the room by Cassius' brutal force. Time seemed to slow down, each second stretching into an eternity as she stood there, the glowing stone clutched tightly in her hand. Cassius, too, appeared taken aback by the sudden surge of power that had swept through the warehouse, his eyes flicking between Arabella and the fallen Gideon. A low growl rumbled in his throat, his muscles tensing as if preparing to spring. But before he could make a move, Arabella did something unexpected. With a loud cry, she hurled the glowing stone at him. Cassius, caught off guard, barely had time to dodge. The stone whizzed past him, hitting the warehouse wall and exploding in a burst of blinding light. The shockwave sent him crashing into a pile of crates, momentarily stunning him. Without wasting a second, Arabella raced towards Gideon, her heart pounding in fear. She skidded to a halt beside him, her hands shaking as she reached out to check his pulse. It was there, steady and strong, relief washing over her. "Gideon," she whispered, her voice shaky. "I need you to wake up." But Gideon didn't respond, his unconscious state a stark contrast to the chaos around them. Arabella looked up, her eyes blazing with determination. She wouldn't let Cassius win, not while she still had fight left in her. Cassius, having recovered from the shockwave, was now back on his feet, his eyes burning with rage. He let out a ferocious growl, charging at Arabella. But she was ready. As Cassius lunged, she sidestepped, her hand shooting out to grab a fallen metal rod. With all the strength she could muster, she swung it at him. The rod connected with a sickening thud, sending Cassius reeling. Arabella didn't wait for him to recover. She was on him in an instant, the rod swinging again and again. Each hit was a promise, a vow to protect her city, her pack, her mate. But Cassius was not one to be underestimated. He recovered swiftly, his hand shooting out to catch the rod mid-swing. Arabella gasped as he yanked it from her grip, throwing it aside. His other hand shot out, gripping her throat and lifting her off the ground. Fear spiked through Arabella as she struggled against his grip, her vision starting to darken. This was it, she thought. She was going to die. But just as she was about to lose consciousness, something happened. A low growl echoed through the warehouse, followed by a blinding flash of silver. The silver wolf, its eyes glowing with an ethereal light, pounced on Cassius, knocking him off balance and causing him to release Arabella. She fell to the ground, gasping for breath as she watched the silver wolf stand protectively over her, its eyes locked on Cassius. Cassius, growling in frustration, got to his feet, ready to fight. But before he could make a move, a loud roar echoed through the warehouse. Gideon, now conscious and transformed into his Alpha form, stood at the other end of the warehouse, his eyes locked on Cassius. Without warning, Gideon charged. The warehouse erupted into chaos as Alpha and Beta clashed, their growls and snarls echoing off the walls. Arabella watched in awe and horror as the two powerful werewolves clashed, their snarls and roars echoing through the warehouse. The silver wolf stood by her side, its eyes never leaving the fight. She was safe, for now. Meanwhile, Gideon, with newfound energy and determination, fought Cassius with all his might. Each swipe of his claws, each bite, was for Arabella, for the pack, for Silver Pines City. But Cassius was strong, his strikes fueled by a raw, uncontrolled rage. The fight was far from over. Arabella, realizing she couldn't just sit by and watch, got to her feet, her gaze darting around the warehouse. Her eyes landed on the discarded glowing stone, its light dimmed but not extinguished. An idea sparked in her mind. With the silver wolf guarding her, Arabella dashed towards the stone, picking it up. As soon as her fingers touched it, a rush of energy coursed through her, filling her with a sense of power and purpose. The stone seemed to pulse in sync with her heartbeat, its light growing brighter. Arabella turned back to the fight, her determination solidifying into a plan. She took a deep breath, focusing all her energy into the stone. She felt it respond, its glow intensifying until it was almost blinding. And then, with a shout, she threw it towards Cassius. The stone whizzed through the air, a streak of light in the dim warehouse. Cassius, distracted by his fight with Gideon, didn't notice it until it was too late. The stone hit him square in the chest, erupting in a burst of light. Cassius let out a roar of pain as he was thrown back, his form shifting back to human as he hit the ground. Gideon, too, was thrown off his feet by the force of the explosion, his form also reverting to human. Arabella, shielded by the silver wolf, watched as the light from the stone engulfed the entire warehouse, forcing her to shield her eyes. When she finally opened them, the light was gone, and so was Cassius. Gideon, bruised and battered, was getting to his feet, his eyes wide in shock. Arabella rushed to him, her relief at his safety washing over her. They had won. Or so they thought. As they stood there, panting and exhausted, a low chuckle echoed through the warehouse, sending a chill down Arabella's spine. They turned towards the sound, their hearts sinking as they saw Cassius. He was leaning against a wall, a dark grin on his face. "You think you've won, don't you?" he sneered, pushing off the wall to stand straight. His eyes were glowing with a strange light, a stark contrast to his human form. And then, to their horror, he started to transform. But this was different from any transformation they had seen before. His form grew larger, more menacing, his features distorting into something monstrous. The last thing they saw before they were plunged into darkness was the glowing eyes of the monstrous form that was once Cassius. As the echoes of his monstrous roars filled the warehouse, Arabella and Gideon realized that their fight was far from over. It was just the beginning.
