Arabella's heart pounded in her chest as she watched Gideon lead the monstrous beast away, her breath hitching as she saw the creature swipe at him. Gideon was quick, agile, but she knew he wouldn't be able to keep this up for long. They needed help, and they needed it fast.
With a grimace, she looked down at the piece of wood lodged in her calf. She needed to get it out, but the thought of the pain made her stomach churn. But she had no choice. Taking a deep breath, she reached down and pulled.
A scream tore from her lips as pain exploded in her leg. Tears welled in her eyes as she bit her lip to stop from crying out again. She couldn't afford to draw the creature's attention. Not now.
With the wood out, she quickly ripped a piece of fabric from her dress, using it to staunch the bleeding. It was a temporary solution, but it would have to do for now. She needed to get out of there.
Using the wall for support, she pushed herself to her feet, biting back a cry as pain shot up her leg. She took a moment to steady herself before she started limping towards the warehouse entrance. She needed to find help.
But just as she reached the entrance, she heard a roar, followed by a pained yelp. She turned, her heart dropping as she saw Gideon being thrown across the warehouse, his body hitting a stack of crates. The creature turned its gaze on her, a malicious glint in its eyes.
Fear gripped her as she realized she was its next target. She was injured, defenseless, but she wouldn't go down without a fight. With a determined glare, she picked up a broken piece of wood, holding it in front of her like a weapon.
The creature stalked towards her, its eyes never leaving hers. She could see the anticipation in its gaze, the thrill of the hunt. But she wouldn't let it see her fear. She wouldn't give it the satisfaction.
But just as the creature lunged at her, a figure stepped in front of her, a silver blur. The silver wolf. He had transformed again, standing protectively in front of her, his eyes locked on the creature.
Arabella could only watch in awe as the silver wolf fought the creature, his movements swift and precise. But even he was having a hard time keeping up with the creature. It was stronger, faster.
As the silver wolf was thrown back, Arabella knew they couldn't keep this up much longer. They were losing. With a determined look, she picked up the piece of wood again, ready to fight. But before she could move, a hand grabbed her arm.
She turned, her eyes widening as she saw Gideon, his face pale but determined. "Arabella, we need to go," he said, his voice strained. "Now."
"But the silver wolf," she protested, her gaze flitting towards the ongoing fight. Gideon shook his head, pulling her towards the entrance.
"We can't help him if we're dead. We need to get out of here."
With one last glance at the silver wolf, she let Gideon lead her away from the warehouse, the sounds of the fight fading behind them. But as they stumbled into the alleyway, a monstrous roar echoed behind them, followed by an ominous silence.
They stopped, their breath hitching as they turned to look back at the warehouse. The silence was deafening, the anticipation chilling. And then, without warning, the warehouse exploded, a burst of energy erupting from it.
Gideon pulled Arabella behind him, shielding her as debris rained down around them. The shockwave knocked them off their feet, sending them sprawling onto the cold, hard ground. Smoke filled the air, obscuring their vision.
"Arabella!" Gideon coughed out, his voice barely audible over the ringing in her ears. "Arabella, are you okay?"
"I...I think so," she managed to gasp out, pushing herself off the ground. Her entire body ached, the pain in her calf flaring up again. But she pushed it aside. They needed to get out of there.
Gideon was at her side in an instant, helping her to her feet. "We need to keep moving," he urged, wrapping an arm around her waist for support.
"But...the silver wolf," she started, looking back at the smoking ruins of the warehouse. "We can't just leave him."
Gideon sighed, running a hand through his hair. "We don't have a choice, Arabella. We're no match for that creature. We need to get you help, and we need to warn the pack."
She knew he was right, but it didn't make the decision any easier. With one last glance at the warehouse, she let Gideon lead her away, the sounds of sirens growing louder in the distance.
They moved through the city, sticking to the shadows to avoid detection. Arabella's leg throbbed with each step, but she gritted her teeth, pushing through the pain. They needed to get back to the pack.
After what felt like hours, they finally reached the outskirts of the pack's territory. But just as relief started to wash over her, a figure stepped out from the shadows, blocking their path. Arabella's heart dropped as she recognized the man.
"Cassius," Gideon growled, his body tensing next to hers. Cassius Redwood, the man who was supposed to be their ally, stood before them, a twisted smile on his face.
"I must say, I didn't expect you two to make it out of there alive," he mused, his eyes gleaming in the moonlight. "But no matter. I'll finish what the creature started."
With a laugh, he lunged at them, his form shifting mid-air. Arabella barely had time to react as Gideon pushed her out of the way, standing his ground against Cassius. But she knew they stood no chance. Not in their current state.
As she watched Gideon and Cassius fight, she felt a cold dread settle in her stomach. They were trapped, with no way out. And with each passing second, their chances of survival were dwindling.
But just as she was about to lose hope, a howl echoed through the night, a familiar sound that sent a surge of relief through her. The pack was near. Help was coming. But would it be in time to save them?
