Reign The UCLA Bruins had settled into the chartered plane flying us to the University of Oregon for a game. I’d flown countless times before, and I wasn’t nervous about the game either. No, this unease was something else. Medora. I stuffed my bag into the overhead compartment and dropped into my seat. While the team captain gave a half-hearted speech to hype the boys, my eyes kept wandering to her. Medora, our new sports physician, moved through the aisle with easy grace, handing out sparkling water like it was some kind of elixir. I should’ve been listening to the captain, but I couldn’t look away. I hadn’t known she’d moved to LA or taken the job until the week she started. And I sure as hell didn’t expect her to be this much of a distraction—not just to me, but to the entire team
