Not Your Lucky Day

The morning was chaos. That was putting it lightly. Tomas had shown up bright and early at eight am, and I hadn't put enough coffee in my body to deal with him. Of course, I couldn't really fault him. This would be the wedding of the year. However...he had come up with three more themes last night. There were ten, yes ten, massive vision boards in front of me, and he had spent at least twenty minutes going over every little detail down to the number of diamonds that should be on each bouquet. Each theme was more intricate and lavish than the last. None of which appeared to be feasible in three weeks. "Tomas these are great, if I was getting married in three years. I am getting married in three weeks. I don't think even you can pull any of these off without some serious help and knowing seriously important people. I am good, but I am not my dad...or Cassius." I sat back against the couch trying to decide which of the themes would work. Tomas had gotten one detail in the themes that pleased me. Each had some kind of villainous theme, which was exactly what I had asked for. "A wedding is magic, darling. Three years, three months, three weeks or three days, you want one that you will remember. Besides, this is the wedding of the year, so say the tabloids. If I don't make it fabulous, my name is at stake. This isn't just about you anymore, Elena." Tomas pointed at me with the marker, and he wasn't wrong. This now had his name attached to it, mine and Cassius. This was not something simple. I promise a fabulous wedding and I needed to act on it. "I just don't know if we can be so elaborate with the theme. Can we knock them back a notch or two? Just to make sure we can accomplish something?" Tomas gasped, faking a faint as Cassius walked in, adjusting his suit jacket sleeves. "Why don't we just do whatever theme you like best, Elena. Do not worry about cost or capability. I am providing our wedding planner with a team to help him, and every vendor, boutique owner and florist wants to be part of this wedding. Just do what you want. I only came to make one request. Whatever she wants, buy the most expensive one. This is a Yearling wedding, and to the CEO of the family. It needs to make a statement, and that statement needs to show power and unity. You want to be a viper, dear, act like one." Cassius smiled at me, and I only sat further into the couch. This was getting a little annoying. I didn't need a big wedding or something Mardi Gras or phantom of the Oprah themed. Cassius walked over, leaning to kiss my cheek. "Remember that this is our wedding, not his. If you don't like any of them, find another. Whatever it costs, darling. I will be home for dinner." "Right. See you later." I stood up with him and waited for him to leave before I walked over to the boards and admired each one up close. Tomas bounced anxiously as I admired them. Taking a deep breath, I stepped back and looked at him. "I don't like any of them, but before you get all huff at me and start storming out, listen. I don't like any of them as a whole, but I do like bits and pieces. Let me do my own magic." I pulled off everything from the Mardi Gras board, making him gasp in horror again. I only gave him a look and continued. I pulled the castle from the fantasy board, and the fairylights. I pulled the roses and vines from the forest theme, the elegant princess-looking bridesmaids' dresses and horse-drawn carriages from the fairytale theme, the wedding dresses from the royal wedding theme, and finally a few gothic pieces here and there that felt villainy to me. I turned it to him, and he took a few minutes to look from horrified to shocked. "Oh! I got it! You want a villain fairytale royal wedding! Maybe not so dark and cryptic as the goth theme, but red. Lots of red and black! I got it. See, this is why I go into such extensive details. I can work with this! Okay, we have a lot to do. So I am going to pull out the vendor cards, find the best. You need to go make a new regestiry, and set up appointments with make up, hair and nails. Also, a tan might do you good. We have a week to get everything situated before it's appointmetns appointments anda appointments. Oh! Bridesmaids. You need bridesmaids." He started rambling off orders, and I only smiled at him and nodded at each task. He trailed off finding the team Cassius had left him waiting. Once he was gone, I walked to the front of the house, and picked up the purse that I had left down there for this exact reason and my keys. "Ms. Edgington. I have been tasked by Mr. Rows to follow you and make sure everything is situatied." A young female said, pushing up the glasses on the brim of her nose. She was short, had short shoulder-length, dirty blonde hair and blue eyes. She might be pretty if she put on some make-up and dressed in something fitting to her body type. I admired her, immediately clocked her size and smiled wide. "Tell me, have you ever had a makeover?" I folded my hands in front of me. She shook her head horrified. My grin widened and I started for the door. "You're in luck, my fiancé just gave me his black card. Come, we have work to do." The registry was actually the easy part. It was nothing we really needed and by the time I left there were maybe a few thousand dollars on there for things I thought might just be nice things to have. The appointment were also relatively easy. In fact, the stylists, make-up artists and nail techs were nearly toppling over one another as I headed for Tiana. She agreed to do all three, smiled at me and then looked at the girl behind me writing in her little pad. Getting Natalie to do the make-over was the hard part, at least until Tiana got a hold of her. I sat in the chair reading tabloids while Tiana worked her magic. I looked up when T cleared her throat and the woman that sat in front of me did not look like the Natalie that had been following me. Tiana had used some extension she already had, matching Nat's hair to with a ombred dark to light blonde. Her bright blue eyes were lined in bold black and dusted with browns and gold. She had a blush on her cheeks and a dark pink on her lips. She smiled sheepishly and I turned up my lips. I brushed aside the curls from her face and looked over the work. Nat followed me to my favorite boutique next, where I pulled a good handful of dresses and had her try them on. While she did that, I had stolen and thrown away the school girl chic outfit she had been wearing. We had decided on all of them and I put her in a nice black dress that was fit for a business woman, which she was. By the time we finished and Tomas had checked in, it was nearly dark and time for dinner with Cassius. We headed back to my car with our bags and her new look, gaining attention from the opposite s*x. "Go talk to him, we can spare a few minutes." I nudged her to the man admiring her. He was tall, muscular and bearded. If I wasn't with Cassius, it might have gone for him myself. She was shy at first, and didn't want to, but with some encouraging nods and shoves, she pushed her bra up, rolled her shoulders and walked over to him. I laughed, and finished stuffing the car trunk. "This is not your lucky day Elena." I turned to the familiar voice and attempted to step back. Marcus smiled darkly, grabbed for me, and I narrowly got away. I backed away a few steps hoping to run for Nat and her man, who seemed either to far away to hear him, or two engulfed to care. Marcus advanced, and before I could scream, someone was behind me covering my mouth and a chemical burned my nose and throat. "Ms. Edgington? Oh my god! Call the police! Mr. Yearling? We have an emergency. They are kidnapping her!" I could hear Natalie's voice and then the sound of a door closing, someone speaking telling whoever was driving to move fast, and then there was nothing....but darkness.
