Chapter 7
Sora‘s POV
"What's the big good news, Sora?"
Lyra is sitting across from Ethan. Several sheets of paper are spread on the table. They both look up at me.
Lyra's eyes curve into two perfect crescents. Pure performance.
Ethan sets his papers down. Waiting for me to finish.
I glance at the documents. I don't recognize what they are.
I lift my eyes to Ethan. "I have good news. It can wait."
Then I turn to Lyra.
"What are you doing in my house?"
Her mouth curves slightly. The expression I've known for twenty-three years. Quiet mockery.
Ethan answers for her.
"Lyra is going to stay here for a while. To help take care of Yuki. To help her finish her first Shift."
"No."
It comes out of me before I can think.
