Chapter 47
Ethan's POV
The pain comes back first.
I open my eyes to white canvas. A surgical tent. The smell of antiseptic, and something else underneath it that my wolf knows before my brain does.
My left side burns. I try to sit up, and a hand presses my shoulder down.
"Don't move, Alpha Blackwood."
A nurse. Young, Beta. Not the one I want.
"Where is she?"
"Alpha?"
"The doctor. The one who did the surgery."
She glances at her clipboard. "Doc Lunaris is in the field, Alpha Blackwood. She left as soon as you were stable."
"In the field."
"Yes, Alpha."
I close my eyes. I didn't ask for a name. I asked for her. And the nurse gave me a code — as if everyone in this camp already knows that isn't an answer.
I try to sit up again. The room moves around me.
