Ethan’s POV
I look at the custody ruling again.
The royal seal. The Lycan King’s endorsement. The procedure is flawless. I have read the copy over and over since this morning. Every time I tell myself there must be a loophole. Every time I find nothing.
A wolfless woman. A woman I thought had nothing in her hands for seven years. She took Yuki’s custody from me. The royal high court’s priority list is not something money can buy.
Someone is backing her. Someone is speaking for her.
I sit across from her and watch her.
The light hits the side of her face. I have seen this face every ovulation night. I have seen it across every breakfast table. But tonight it looks thinner. Her cheekbones cast shadows. Dark circles sit under her eyes. Her lips have no color.
