I quickly texted Mav, letting him know that Rosè would be dropping me off instead, and he didn't have to wait.
His response came almost two hours later.
Mav: Sure… Are you okay though? Keep me updated. Take care.
I frowned at his delayed response. Mav was usually quick to reply. Maybe pack duties kept him busy today? I wondered about his inactivity today. I knew exactly that pack duties were demanding, and I couldn't imagine the pressure on him.
After a long evening, it was late. Zeph offered to drop me off, but I politely declined, saying I'd wait for Rosè. I couldn't risk him finding out about Mav and me, not until the research was over.
