White Light
Jason Berke came from a moderately wealthy family. After obtaining his doctorate in chemistry from MIT he used an inheritance from his grandfather to buy a large house and build his own lab. A compound he invented which Roth helped him to patent made him wealthy in his own right.
After stopping by the Roths’ place so Gail could pick up her things they drove straight to his house. Jason had phoned ahead to Valerie to tell her Gail was leaving. Gail let them in using her own key; Valerie never bothered to come downstairs. “She sounded pleased when I told her,” Jason said. Gail was equally pleased not to have to see her again.
