Chapter 2: Broken Vows at the Crimson Hall :
The grand hall glittered with golden lights and luxury. Music echoed softly, but for Park Thi, everything felt suffocating.
She stood there like a doll in silk, her hands cold, her heart already elsewhere.
Across her stood Fanglang — smiling, confident, surrounded by power. But Thi knew the truth. Everyone knew. His reputation was stained with countless affairs, empty promises, and a charm that fooled the world but never her eyes.
She didn’t even look at him properly.
Guests whispered, cameras flashed, and her parents proudly announced the engagement.
But Thi? She was silent… until the last guest left.
The moment the hall emptied, her silence broke.
“You forced this on me… all of you,” she said sharply, turning toward her parents.
“Thi! Mind your words!” her mother warned.
But her eyes were burning now.
“You fixed my life like a contract. You put a ring on my finger, but my heart… it’s not here. It’s with Jayhyung.”
Her father’s face hardened. “Enough! You are 23. He is 33. Ten years difference. And he is a mafia. He is not suitable for you!”
Thi laughed bitterly.
“Suitable?” she stepped forward, voice shaking. “The man who killed my father… you say he’s not suitable? You did not tell me the truth, did you?”
The room froze.
Her eyes filled with rage and pain.
“I want Jayhyung. Only him. Always him.”
Her voice cracked as she removed the engagement ring and threw it on the table.
Gasps filled the hall.
Without another word, she turned and walked out.
Outside, rain started to fall.
She didn’t care.
She got into her car and drove fast, tears mixing with anger.
Her destination was clear.
Jayhyung’s mansion.
Inside the mansion, Jayhyung sat in his dark office, papers of mafia deals spread across the table. His world was control, blood, and silence.
Until the door slammed open.
Thi stood there, soaked, breathing heavily.
Jay didn’t even look up fully.
“So… engagement news reached you,” he said coldly. “Congratulations.”
That word broke something inside her.
She walked straight to him, grabbed his collar.
“I told you already,” she said, voice trembling, “I love you, Jayhyung.”
Silence.
She leaned in and kissed him—soft, desperate, claiming.
Then she pulled back and whispered,
“I am yours. Always.”
She turned and walked away before he could react.
Jayhyung finally looked up.
For the first time, his cold expression cracked.
He watched her leave.
And in his mind—
“I can’t hate her… but I can’t have her either.”
Jayhyung POV
I can neither reject her… nor accept her. And that is the most dangerous feeling of all.
