Chapter 20

EVELYN’S POV The sound of her shoes clanking past me as she brushed past my shoulder was all I needed to know that Tiffany wasn’t just a spoilt rich child, she was a menace. “Better watch your back Evelyn” she whispered as she walked past, her scent of jasmine sifting through my nostrils. The rich sure had confidence, it was disgusting. Just when I made a turn to head down to the lounge, I felt a grip of my arm, his eyes caught mine “What are you doing?!” I asked almost in a yell, my back propped against the wall. “I wanted to talk to you all day but you were avoiding me” he said, paying no heed that this was a public setting and anyone who made a turn in seconds would see me propped up against the wall with his hands by my side blocking an escape. “I don’t have time for this” I whispered, peeking around me to see if anyone was coming, the hall was dry and empty. “There’s another lecture I need to attend” I stated, avoiding his gaze. “What about resting?” He asked, he leaned closer to my ear and my breath hitched “You need to rest after what happened yesterday” I didn’t wait for him to finish, I pushed him aside. “We can do this later” I demanded, shoving him aside but he didn’t let me leave. He grasped onto my arm, pulling me towards him, he embraced me, letting me soak in his citrusy scent. “I’m sorry about Tiffany” he apologized, I wasn’t sure why. “She’s been trying to get herself into my family” he continued whilst I tried to pry myself free from his grip, he snuggled on me while I struggled to get him off. “This isn’t the right place for this” I pushed him away finally, making my way back to the teachers lounge. “I’ll text you” he echoed, I ran faster in my heels, trying not to look back, I mean what if someone saw me, saw us. “Goodness gracious Evelyn” miss Crimson said when I flung the door open, breathing heavily “Did you run a marathon in those heels?” She teased while I steadied my breathing. Just then Dean Albright waltzed in through the other door, his brows furrowed at me “Evelyn, my office, now” he said immediately. I rolled my eyes, anticipating what he had to say, it would be no better than reprimanding me about how I talk to the rich children and how my methods of teaching are too harsh and unethical. “Yes sir” I mumbled when I got into his office. “Are you trying to ruin me?” He asked, his back turned to me, “Are you going to take responsibility if students stop coming here?” He asked again, I wanted to sigh so hard but I held it in. “Sir I didn’t know..” He cut in “Then you should’ve stayed quiet!” He yelled, I didn’t flinch “At least now you know your new student. Make sure she faces no problems and her grades look good” he ordered, flicking his wrist to dismiss me. “Grades are achieved on their merits, I do hope your new favorite student is as smart as her mouth claims to be” I shot back, turning to leave. “If you try to set her back..you might be ruined in the process” he yelled from behind. “I’ve come too far to let a child decide my fate, good day Dean Albright” I said, returning to my desk to prepare for the last lecture. **** Thankfully the students of my last lecture aren’t one to give me a migraine. I took my bag and headed out the door when I saw him standing at one of the poles, his back against the light stand and a smile on his face. He waved at me, I walked past him, bag in hand “Won’t you at least look at me?” He asked “I’m here to walk you home” he stated an obvious fact. “I know you are but my dorm isn’t far from here, keep your distance at least” I said, walking faster so he would be far behind me at least. Although I had accepted his love for me, I still hadn’t come to terms with the fact that this was wrong. “Anya texted me that she won’t be home and I should walk you” he said with a bright smile, walking closer to me. “I saw her text, I wonder why she texted you too” I sighed with a half smile. It had been a while we talked and walked but wasn’t that just yesterday? I thought to myself. The moment we got to the door of the room, I pushed in the key, letting myself in “Come in” I gestured, taking my bag into the room before coming right out “Will you stay for dinner?” I asked casually, forgetting who he was. “I’ll stay till tomorrow if you’ll let me” he teased with a smile. “I’ll make us something to eat…right after I change, I’ll be right back” I said hastily, getting into the room and changing into a pair of joggers and tank top. But the moment I walked out of the room, there he was, turning off the stove and getting noodles ready, an apron wrapped around his waist. That seemed different, I really had the idea that the rich couldn’t boil a cup of water. “What?” He asked when he noticed my eyes fixated on the pot, his smile lightening my mood. “Nothing” I answered, rushing to the dining and taking the plate of food when he placed his hands on mine. “What?” I asked, suprised. “You have to thank me first” he smirked, a sly one on the corner of his lips. “Uh..thank you” I mumbled. He shook his head, pulling me closer to him, my heart raced at the closeness of our bodies and I suddenly remembered that I was in an empty room with him, the man who made me weak in the knees “Wha..what other appreciation do you want?” I asked, knowing fully well of the outcome of my question. He leaned closer to me, placing his hand on my waist, letting his lips suck on my skin, I held onto his shirt, suppressing a soft moan. “My mark on you Evelyn..that’s all I want”
