EVELYN’S POV
The sound of heavy multiple footsteps caused me to rethink my actions, had he lied about class not happening because I didn’t have my schedule, if there wasn’t any classes, then why would this number of people converge at a place.
“El…Elroy” I said softly, turning to look at him, I was stronger than this, “This has to stop” I whispered, buttoning my shirt before looking around for an escape route.
“Bu..but Evelyn”
“It’s professor Reeds to you” I said, avoiding his gaze, smoothening my collar, my eyes catching the other door of the room, so there was another passage way after all. “Make no mention of this” I warned.
Holding onto my phone, I moved past him, letting myself out through the door.
The door led to a hall and I didn’t look back before walking swiftly to the professors lounge.

The day wore on and it was time to head home, technically it was the motel Anya had found for us to stay in until I got my pay to get us a new apartment.
As I sat in the bus on the way home, I pondered about the pressing issue at hand, how am I going to get a new apartment? Should I get an advance from Mr Vans?
That’s a stupid idea, I’ll be perceived as a beggar and worse, I’ll be at the mercy of Elroy and his family. I’ll just have to survive till it’s time for my pay.
As the driver stopped at my destination, I rushed out of the bus before my phone vibrated, causing me to stare at the message with wide eyes and in horror.
“No, no, no!” I mumbled, rushing to the motel even quicker than before, “Please Melvin, no” my breath hitched as my legs sprinted through the stairs, ignoring the greetings of the motel reception.
“Anya!” I yelled aloud, bursting through the door, my heart racing and my blood rushing “Anya!” I called out again.
“What’s the matter?” She asked, the apron tied on her waist, her eyes widened with shock but a smile formed on my lips “What happened? Why are you running?” She questioned whilst I felt relief envelop me as I pulled her in for a hug.
“What’s going on?” She asked in a confused state.
Pulling away from her, I showed her the text I was sent ‘Having fun with your friend? I guess she’s busy just as you are’ the text read with a picture of Anya working at the library, the latest job she had just gotten.
I felt tears roll down my cheek because of fear “I’m sorry” I mumbled, he’s moved from targeting me to stalking her as well.
“Why are you sorry? That jerk is the problem here, not you” she comforted me, her arms wrapped around me, I always felt safe around her and months ago, she was a stranger.
Just as I wiped the tears from my eyes, another message came from the number ‘I’ve finally found you’ it read, a picture of the entrance of the motel right next to it.
I placed my hand over my mouth, dropping my phone to the floor “He..he’s here” I stuttered, my fingers trembling as Anya read the message herself, I clutched onto her apron, tears flowing down as my heart raced yet again.
“That’s it Evelyn, I’m calling the police” she said, picking up her phone and dialing an emergency line “This craziness has got to stop!” She said angrily, and she wasn’t wrong, my only fear would be if he was apprehended and then still let go, we’d be in a bind or worse, he’s never found.
“Anya no” I stopped her, making the police come yet again after what had happened at home would only cause eyes to be on us, making him watch us amongst the crowd.
“I’ll get us some money to get a new apartment, a better one” I said with a firm voice, wiping off the tears “You’re right, this has gone too far, if he finds us and tries to threaten me again, then I’ll involve the cops” she looks at me, not assured just yet “I promise”

The next day went by quickly, maybe because I didn’t fixate my stare at Elroy and I avoided all possible contact with him, incidental or not but it was a futile attempt since I would be dropping by his home today to ask for an advance.
“Welcome miss Reeds” Chloe beamed with excitement the moment her eyes caught mine, I faintly smiled.
“Good evening miss Vans” I answered, making my way to the study but I was sure she noticed my change in demeanor.
“Is everything alright?” She asked, the smile fading from her face.
“Everything’s fine, I just want to know if you’re parents are present” I let out, trying not to sound as desperate as my expressions seemed.
“Yes, they’re in. Actually, they’ll be leaving soon, just follow miss Colby, I’ll be preparing my materials while you talk to them”
She’s such a nice kid, I wonder why they have an issue with her behavior.
I made my way to the living room with miss Colby leading the way, I met both of them, looking exquisite in their perfect attires, they almost seemed regal, well, there are wealthy after all.
“Good evening Mr and Mrs Vans” I gave out my greetings calmly.
“Greetings miss Reeds” Mrs Vans greeted with a smile whilst her husband only grunted a little, muttering calm greetings after.
“Sir, I apologize if I may come off desperate but I am forced to ask for your help” I said, trying to mask the shaking in my voice.
“Before you begin” he cut me short “What am I hearing about Elroy having to lose concentration in school?” He asked but it sounded more like a statement, which reminded me, where was Elroy anyways?
“Uh, sir, I beg your pardon?” I asked
“I hear he’s mingling with someone, someone of a different setting and it’s causing a problem in his studies, do you have any idea about that?” He asked firmly this time and now I felt a lump in my throat,
Does he know about us? About me? About what happened at the library?
