ELROY’S POV
I pondered about the warmth of her skin whilst the kiss still lingered on my mind “Brother” Chloe said softly, nudging my arm and glaring at me with her light brown eyes “I don’t think you’ve been listening to anything I’ve said” she continued.
“Of course I have been listening” I lied “So you tell me you want professor Reeds to keep tutoring you, am I right?” I asked with my lips curled into a smirk.
“Yes..she’s amazing” she paused, excitement in her eyes “The way she explains concepts, you guys are really lucky to have her” she squealed before rushing past me “I’ll have some rest now, I’m sure you’re bored of me” she chuckled, I let out a faint smile.
She wasn’t wrong, professor Reed looked rigid on the outside but she’s different, poised yet disheveled in a beautiful way, it makes me think of how long she’s kept trying to look and sound unfazed.
I’m sure she’ll try to be more careful around me tomorrow, I grazed my bottom lip with my finger as I recalled her lips pressing onto mine.

I stared at my phone in hand staring at the countless dms on my i********:, pausing, I tapped onto Noah’s message which read “Guess who’s coming back?”
Suddenly the phone rung, the caller ID showed Noah “What now?” I asked sluggishly, tapping the speakerphone feature.
“I just thought I’d give you an update” he chimed “Someone’s coming back” his tone indicating a slight touch of anticipation as well as resentment, I didn’t respond, it wasn’t worth it, this was night time, I needed some rest after those hours of trying to complete Reed’s assignment.
“It’s Tiffany” he said, I sat up straight, my eyes widened with shock.
“What?!” I exclaimed, there was no way she’d come back, she and her parents had left too far off for her to come back but then again, nothing two to three flights can’t handle “How? Why?”
“I’m not so sure about it but I heard this from a friend” he responded, letting me rest at ease “Just calm down, who knows if it’s true” he added with a chuckle.
“Don’t try to spread shitty lies man” his chuckle resounded through the phone “good night!” I hung up immediately, turning my face to the ceiling as I wished for morning to come quickly.

The classroom went silent the moment the clacking of her heels had gotten to the door, her laptop in hand, her movements calculated and strict, her eyes fixated on everyone.
“I presume the assignment to be submitted is in order” she stated, her eyes never meeting mine but somehow looming over my head.
“Yes ma’am” the class answered in unison, taking out scripts and wads of papers, they made a line to the front of the class, passing it forward on her desk. Taking mine in hand, I placed it on her desk, her eyes straight forward and her demeanor candid.
I moved slightly past her, my fingers grazing her hand as I placed my work on the pile “Are you avoiding my eyes?” I whispered in a soft tone, my body close enough for my breath to get to her ear.
But she didn’t flinch, her eyes remained the same and as I took my seat, a scowl formed on her face, glaring at me.
“Mr Vans” she called out, I slightly raised my head “Did you write an easy on the question you had raised yesterday?” She questioned, her voice strong and clear, interesting.
“No professor Reeds…I didn’t think I’d have to write it, with the presumption that we might have a discussion about it in later classes” I answered and noticed a flicker of rage in her eyes, it made a part of my heart beat with glee.
“Fine then” she turned to the class “You all get the assignment of correlating yesterday’s topic with the socio-economic structures of pre-industrial Europe” she snickered, a flicker of joy in her eyes that didn’t show on her lips.
The class went into an uproar “You all have to thank Mr Vans for this” she added. I turned my face down a little to hide the smile on my lips. She was bold, what could I expect? She had talked to father without wandering, giving no time for reconsideration.
The lesson continued and my eyes lingered on her fast pace, her eyes, the motions of her hands and those lips.
After the class was over, she stacked up the books and as everyone walked out one after the other, I moved towards her “Let me help you with that” I offered, she turned towards me, a ghastly stare in order.
“There’s no need for that Mr Vans” she quickly replied, taking the scripts onto her arms.
“But I do insist” I persisted, noticing the struggle she had taking up all of the papers, but she was obvious about it, she didn’t want my help even when she needed it.
Just then a student stood by the door “Professor Reeds, Mr Folly needs to use the class” she informed, she nodded in response, letting the girl leave.
That’s it!
I took the papers from her hands, “You don’t have to be uptight so much” I said,
“Are you taunting me?” She looked at the door “Because of what happened?” She asked, furry in her eyes.
“Because of what happened?” We both heard from the door, I turned to look at the dark brunette standing at the doorway, her eyes brimming with excitement and gum in her mouth, Tiffany Sterling.
