EVELYN’S POV
He stood by her door frame, that look of mischief in his eyes. I’d be damned to let him be in the same space as me, let alone drive me anywhere.
“There’s no need for that brother, I’m sure miss Reeds will be staying” Chloe chipped in, I turned to her, wanting to satisfy my ego “And don’t refuse, if anything were to happen to you, it’d be disastrous to our family name” she continued in a stable yet convincing tone
The way she spoke made me wonder why her parents thought she had a problem with improvements.
Heaving a lazy sigh, I nodded with agreement “Okay, let me show to one of the guest rooms”
She squealed as she walked in front of me, leading the way. Her brother on the other hand grazed my skin with his finger whilst I walked past him.
The room felt lavish, extravagant, wide and almost even bigger than the apartment Anya and I shared.
Rich people thing
“Oh and here” Chloe said, almost coughing as she handed me a pair of night gowns.
“Are you okay?” I asked, taking them off her hands as she coughed and cleared her throat.
“I’m alright” she answered “Please call on a maid if you need something” she smiled before exiting the room.
I took a long glance at the decor and beauty of the room, it all felt unreal, shimmering and different.
It didn’t take away the anxiety I felt or loosen the knots that were still formed in my stomach because of Melvin’s fiasco.
“I’ll have a bath and maybe I’ll calm down” I muttered to myself, making my way into the exquisite bathroom which seemed like it was made only for royalty.
After having a bath, I stared at the pajamas laid on my bed, one was a chemise night gown with a robe and the other a comfy top and pants. Comfy top it is.
The night wore on and my anxiety only doubled, there was no way I was going to get any sleep in before work tomorrow.
I stared at the wall clock, the time read 12:17 am.
The bed didn’t work for me even when it was the softest thing I had felt in forever
“I’ll see if I can ask for a glass of milk” I mumbled, slowly opening the door of my room.
I looked sideways but it was almost too dark and too silent.
Making it a mental note to remember I was in someone else’s home, I decided to find a maid, any one.
But my search was futile, so instead, I made my way to the empty balcony, the first place I had found intriguing since I got here.
“Nice view out here, isn’t it?” He asked and I turned in horror.
“Oh my God” I yelled when he quickly rushed towards me, putting his hand over my mouth.
“Shh” he whispered.
I slapped his hand off my mouth “Why aren’t you in bed?” I whispered after putting some distance between us.
“Couldn’t sleep” he answered in a low tone “What about you?”
I found it hard to believe how someone with such an expensive home would find it difficult to get some shut eye.
I mean, he wasn’t stalked, trying to get more money or even running from a past.
“I was trying to get some milk” I answered sharply
Trying so hard not to stare at the tattoo which was on the left side of his back and the almost shirtless feel he had whilst leaning on the reins of the balcony.
“Cute pink ponies” he said, pointing over to my pair of comfy pajamas “My sister has impeccable choice” he smiled, I didn’t.
“You seem quite restless miss Reeds” he started
I looked away, letting the subtle breeze glow through my hair.
“I’m the epitome of every professor, what else am I supposed to be?” I paused “I’m just concerned about the academic growth of my students, that’s all” I lied.
“It’s more than that, I mean, on the outside you look spiteful, embodied with anger and grace of some sort” he chuckled “But on the inside, you’re calm, loving even”
“Loving? Have you even seen me?” I scoffed.
“Yes I have, the way you nurture my sister with such care, you teach her graciously” his voice went from low to gentle “Like she’s yours, like she’s more than just a student. It’s beautiful” he turned to me, his light green eyes staring at me.
“I’m going to my room” I stated, almost rushing past him when I felt his hand on me.
I didn’t know why I didn’t leave at the sight of him at first because I could see this coming.
“And we still haven’t talked about what happened between us” his voice was barely above a whisper as he pulled me closer to him.
“There’s nothing to talk about, just leave me alone” I commanded, trying to whisk my arm from his grip.
“I can’t” he paused “You’re all I think of, every waking day and passing night, I cannot sleep knowing that you’re around me” he confessed, his breath heavy enough to reach me.
“I do not like you in the slightest” I replied, my heart racing as the scent of his cologne seeped into my thoughts “You are my student, nothing more and nothing can ever work between us” I moved away angrily.
He followed after me, cornering me to the wall
“Let me go Elroy” I said in the calmest tone
His hands were over mine and his eyes stared at me with lust.
“I feel like if I leave you, I’ll never..” he paused, his voice a bit shaky “I’ll never be able to touch your skin or hold you” he answered, his hand trailing down to my waist.
I was not meant to have my heart race, to find him this alluring. All day, he’s been on my nerves and my mind, it’s frustrating.
he used his finger to trace my face “I’ve fallen in love with you Evelyn and for some reason, I don’t care if you’re uptight with me..I just want you” his low baritone sent a shiver down my spine.
He leaned in closer and I went for it, taking his lips apart, I lunged at him. I paused for a second and a smile formed on his lips and he kissed even harder.
I cupped his face in my hand as he explored my lips, suddenly everything felt hot.
I felt his finger on my chest above my pajamas, he caressed me softly and my heart skipped, his touch felt good, I wanted more of this, more of him until I heard a door creak open.
“Who’s there?”
