Chapter 24

EVELYN’S POV It made no sense, my thoughts were utterly scrambled as I tried so hard not to notice rock hard abs, pressing against my body as he pinned me to the wall. I had to remind myself that he wasn't in the right state of mind to understand what he was doing. so I try to free my arm from his grip and that name…he wasn't meant to call me that. “El, you don’t know what you’re doing..let me go and head into the shower” I responded, strengthening my resolve as I avoided his eyes. “Tell me you don’t love me” he paused, placing his finger on my chin, lifting my face to catch his eyes brightened by his spiked drink. “I don’t! Now get in the damn shower” I demanded, pushing him aside as I headed for the door outside the room. “Yes ma’am” he chuckled I rushed outside, clutching onto my invisible pearls, my hand on my chest and i crouched down next to the thin mahogany door frame. Those eyes that made my knees weak, my heart raced faster than usual and his body, he looked ethereal, his rock abs made my brain spiral out of control. Get it together Evelyn! I slapped myself across the face, the first time and the second, trying to pull myself back to reality. I must gain self control and ask him what happened instead of jumping at the slightest chance to have his lips intertwined with mine. Not wasting time, I rushed downstairs to the motel lobby, to clear my head but mostly to put some distance between him and I. And it worked, my eyes stayed glued to the rickety television the resident caretaker watched earnestly, glancing once in a while to the messages on my phone. After what seemed like half an hour, I noticed a man in dark clothing walk in, bothered by the past, I glanced in his direction to notice that he had also been stealing glances at me and it made me wonder. Is it Melvin. I looked back to my phone, heaving heavy breaths, trying so hard to quench the fire of anxiety brewing in my heart. Calm down Evelyn…not everyone is HIM I tried to calm myself but when I saw this mysterious man in all back clothing, his dark cap covering most of his head, making his way towards me, I picked up my phone and rushed back to Elroy, better with him than whoever this is. “Are you okay?” Elroy asked the moment I stepped into the room frantically, a towel still wrapped around his waist. “Uh..yeah” I mumbled, turning away from him as he put his shirt over his body “Why haven’t you put on your clothes? I’ve been downstairs for almost an hour” I stated, eyes closed But my nose could still navigate enough to know where that expensive citrusy scent was coming from and my mind already visualized him, shirtless. “You can open your eyes…” he whispered and i did, he was still shirtless. “I thought you were done!” I yelled, covering my eyes with the back of my palm again. “You’ve seen me at my best, worst and even shirtless…what’s the harm now?” He chuckled loudly. “Is the aphrodisiac still talking?” I asked, hands still on my eyes I felt his shadow towering over me and I was indeed right, he held onto my hand, taking it off my eyes. “You’re free to look now” he stated with a mischievous grin before returning to the bed. “Now you’re a bit sober..I have to ask, what happened?” I started Walking closer to him but keeping enough distance that would discourage my fingers. “Tiffany” he breathed, his grin had faded completely “I was at her welcome party” I furrowed my brows at him and he seemed to have noticed it “ I was dragged in by Noah, obviously and after a while when she came in to greet us, I..I wanted to leave but he asked I take one more drink and I did” he paused. “And you know that was not a mistake” I chipped in. “Well..I escaped that one” he chuckled “But I get to spend the night with you” he teased or so I thought. “This isn’t funny or a goddamn vacation!” I stated clearly, anger in my tone “I forfeited my resting time for you” I sighed “Don’t you ever try this stunt again” But it seemed like he paid no heed to what I had just said because he leaned in closing the gap between us “But I get to see you” he grinned And for a split second I felt my heart skip a beat and my fingers were intertwined with his. But just as we stared at each other’s eyes we heard a knock on the door with a loud voice coming from the other side. “Babe..El, are you there?” The female voice asked loudly.
