Chapter 30

874 Words
ELROY’s POV The classroom was in uproar and I got to see his face again. The face of the man Evelyn pulled in for a hug at the hospital. Initially, I had gone to apologize for Tiffany’s rudeness as usual and there he was ogling over Evelyn. I couldn’t pinpoint what their relationship was but it wasn’t good, at least to me. “Are you still pissed about it?” Tiffany whispered, taking my hand in hers. Without batting an eye at her, I whisked my arm from her. She was the last person I would be interested in right now. “Noah..please talk to him. I didn’t mean that at the party” she continued My eyes focused on that smiley faced man right in front of the class. He finally waved goodbye and made his way out the door. Finally “You know Elroy doesn’t forget things easily. And neither do I” Noah answered sharply, his head turned to look at the board. As expected from my best friend. Others tend to have forgotten what Tiffany had done in the past. Her packing her bags, leaving, following another and then prancing back into my life like it’s easy and then spiking my drink. She was going too far. “But Noah..” she grumbled. “Can I just have some peace and quiet” I snapped at her. She turned to her desk. After class, I made it my sole purpose to talk to Evelyn but my first attempt failed. when she pried her way out of my grip, which meant, I had to use another approach. “What are you doing here Elroy?” She asked the moment she opened her door to see my face. “Wanted to keep you company..that’s all” I smiled, letting my lower canines show “Anya said you’d be home alone and sent me here..you know, to keep watch” I lied. “I’m not a child and you both know that..also if there’s any one who needs protection, it’s you” she said Her hands crossed on the door frame, stopping me from coming in but I didn’t mind, seeing her face was more than enough. “But I could just..you know, be around” I added, trying to keep my mind off the thoughts of just pulling her in and pressing my lips onto hers. That casual look of hers in a baggy top, a messy bun and shorts hanging on her upper thigh did something to me. Something I couldn’t explain. “No Elroy, go home!” She said, closing the door But I placed my feet in between the space, stopping her effort. Apparently I lied to myself, seeing her face wasn’t enough. “What now?” She asked, opening the door and giving me one of her iconic eye rolls that made my heart fizzle. “I’m sorry” I mumbled and she gave me a daunting stare that meant ‘What on earth are you sorry for?’ Just then, I felt my body jolt towards her, bridging the gap between our bodies. I pressed my lips onto hers and she struggled, pushing me off. “Wh..what do you think you’re doing?” She asked angrily, gasping for air. I felt my body go numb, that wasn’t what I wanted. There was fear in her eyes and I was the cause of it “I..I’m sorry” I stuttered, trying to understand what had come over me in that split second. “Why did you do that?!” She snapped “Leave!” “Bu..but Evelyn. I’m sorry” I apologized even harder, my heart in my mouth. “Just leave!” She persisted “Please, just hear me out…please” I begged “Please” she had her arms folded, that glare strongly sending signals to me. “I’m sorry Evelyn, I didn’t..I didn’t know what came over me. I’m sorry” I said softly, keeping my distance and staying close to the door. “Just leave El, please” she said, her fingers pointed at the door but her tone was calmer than before. Letting out a heavy sigh, I opened the door and made my way for the exit. I heard the door shut behind me and I felt my heart wrench. I had been so infatuated with the thoughts of her and angry about that smiley dude that I couldn’t take it any longer. As I stood down from the gate, I noticed her window blinds shut. She was right, maybe it wasn’t best that I was around her right now. As I made my way down my parent’s home, I felt a buzz in my pocket, it was my phone. I read the caller ID that read Noah. “Dude…come quick!” He said frantically, ignoring the pleasantries, that was unlike him “Something just happened, it’s Chloe” “Chloe?” I asked in panic rushing down to my car “What happened? Why didn’t you call me earlier?” I asked in a hoarse voice my hand on the steering wheel and my heart in my mouth. “She was attacked” he answered “By a man in black…apparently”
