DAVID’S ACTUAL GRADUATION ceremony was on a Friday (my own had occurred the week before), and we’d invited his parents down for the weekend. After the ceremony, we had dinner at a new restaurant in the neighborhood. When we finally got back to the house and were settled down in the living room, David excused himself to go to the bathroom, saying that something he’d eaten had disagreed with him and was fighting back.
