WE MAINTAINED A very busy schedule and were more than pleased with the amount of business we were getting. The situation at home was less pleasing. Anthony was opening up to Grandma, whom he now called Nana, but he continued to be shy and withdrawn around Kevin and me. We had an unusually warm spell at the beginning of March, so we decided to introduce him to the pool, and that turned out to be the icebreaker we’d been looking for. Somewhere along the line, he’d learned to swim a little, and he loved getting into the pool with us.
The privacy fence around the pool had a gate, and we installed a stout padlock on it to keep Anthony from taking it on himself to try the pool when we weren’t looking. Actually, he wasn’t all that adventuresome, but we decide
