Devlin remembered little of the confrontation with the Skylaria, only knowing that he woke with the mother of all headaches. The cat, hurting and rendered powerless and incapable of further attack, readily relinquished its authority, instinctively recognising that in human form all residual energy could be used to aid the important process of healing. Finding himself bruised and sore in places he hadn’t known existed, Devlin just about managed to raise himself from the floor.
