Chapter Two SOPHIE’S WORLD BLURRED all around her. Visions of overhead lights, narrow corridors and sounds of echoing footsteps whirled together in an incomprehensible mash. All that seemed constant was the painful, solid grip on her arm and the gun barrel pressed to her spine, pushing her forward. “Stop,” she gasped. “Let me go...” Her outburst was rewarded with a stronger jab in the back and her arm yanked upward in an excruciating hold. “Shut up,” a male voice hissed in her ear. Her back arched in an awkward position, and the back of her head butted against his chest. She smelled leather and a hint of cologne, faded but infinitely more pleasant than Massimo’s.
