''No! I'm here to protect my girls, I am not selling anyone no matter how much you donate. Are you out of your mind?'' Miss Winters squares up to Miss Abby looking down on the plump woman.
''Give her to me!''
Miss Abby puffs out her chest and squeezes her eyes at the younger woman in front of her. She is ready to kick her out when Miss Winters suddenly looks up. Her scowl washes away as if it had never been there and changes to pure adoration and gentleness.
This was not the woman that just wanted to buy a young girl, Miss Abby thought. She then turns around to find Billy on the stairs looking at the woman in the hallway and the other business people that stayed in the door waiting to be called in.
Her hair is pulled back with a scarf as a headband and her make up is half done. Her lips are red and concealer covers some scars and spots but her eyes are bare. She is wearing a flowy dress with polka dots on it that reaches her knees but shows a nice hand full.
''What is going on here,'' she asks walking down to the rest of the steps looking at her rock, Miss Abby. She opens her arms for the younger girl. Billy rushes to her side knowing this is bad.
''Are you Miss Winters,'' Billy asks confused. ''Yes, it is so nice to meet you. Call me Rain, by the way.'' Miss Winters quickly holds out her hand and smiles carefully at the young girl. She looks so very fragile in the protective arms of Miss Abby.
Billy wants to reach out but Miss Abby snatches her wrist away and pulls it towards her. She doesn't want Billy near that wolf in sheep clothing. Billy looks up confused at Miss Abby wanting an explanation.
Miss Abby that promised to always tell the whole truth knows she can't break that promise now. ''Miss Winters wanted to buy you.''
A deep frown forms on Billy her face. She looks at the woman she heard so many good things about. The woman that kept this place alive from the very start? That throws a whole darn gala! to help them? How?
''I don't understand,'' Billy whispers as she slowly shakes her head. Besides the fact that this woman wants to buy her, why her? She never even met Billy in her life and now all of a sudden she wants to buy her?! This can't be, it is too ridiculous!
Miss Winters is quiet the whole time but then lifts up her chin and takes a deep breath before speaking up. ''I'm not leaving without her. Your choice of how this will go. You either give her to me and I'll keep my donations up and pay for whatever next project you have in mind or I will forcibly take her and make sure you are ruined.''
''I'm not to be owned! I'm a person not a doll,'' Billy chimes in standing her ground. Miss Winters just looks away from her. ''I'm sorry it has to go like this.'' Billy snorts, no she is not! She couldn't care less about it.
''You actually think you can get away with this, do you? How delusional are you to think that the cops won't find her within a day?'' Billy can see Miss Winters swallow when she holds up her hand and steps even closer to Miss Abby.
''Because you r***d these poor girls and I will make her confess to this or I'll kill her and her little friends,'' Miss Winters sneers with a quick look at Billy. Miss Abby gasps as her eyes widen with fear. She wouldn't kill those girls, she couldn't...
Miss Abby knew Winters owns a massive company. With all the strings she could pull and a confession she would be ruined forever... Still, she swore to protect these girls but now she couldn't see a way out.
Miss Winters writes a check meanwhile, and then holds it out in front of the women. Billy is the first one to snatch it out of her perfectly manicured hand and hands it to Miss Abby. She made up her mind.
If she went with that witch now only her life would be ruined, she'd gladly do it. Miss Abby nor the other girls would be hurt in all this. Not if she could stop it.
''I'll stay as long as you keep donating,'' Billy speaks seriously, '' and I want a contract stating this of which you, Miss Abby and I will all have a copy.'' Miss Winters nods and signs for her people to come to her.
''Good girl, nice to hear you made the right choice,'' Miss Winters lays her hand on Billy's cheek her voice sounding kind and then flashing her a gentle smile, ''take the basic mate contract and add her terms to it.''
Miss Winters then turns towards the living room with her people and get it done. Miss Abby only then awakens from the shock she had been in. ''Billy? What do you think you're doing? This will ruin your life!''
''Rather just mine than everyone's lives here. You have more life's to save, I'll be okay.'' Billy then turns away from the woman and walks up the stairs to pack a bag with important things.'' When she is done Miss Winters is at the end of the staircase.
''Miss Abby is reading the contract now, I assume you'd like to read it as well?'' She sounds very different than what Billy had heard of her before. Gentle and kind, nearly maternal. ''Yes.'' Billy still passes the woman with a steel face and walks towards the table everyone is sat at.
She waits for a copy of the document to be handed to her. She starts reading it and notices it's only one and a half pages long and it protects her very much. There are some things that protect Miss Winters as well but mostly Billy.
If the Defendant is abused (mentally, sexually, emotionally and/or physically) she is allowed to leave.
If the Defendant is not allowed enough living space she is allowed to leave.
If Miss Winters stops donating the Defendant is allowed to leave.
A few more things are there to protect her and it then states one last thing that truly surprises her.
If the Defendant leaves she has to be required with enough measures to be secure until no further help is needed.
Billy puts down her signature and so does Miss Winters. The young woman has to admit she feels a little calmer about this situation since she can't be abused in any way. She is still uneasy about it but not as scared. This gives her the courage to also sign the other copies and take her own.
Miss Winters lays her hand on the youngster's shoulder and smiles when she looks up. Billy stands up shrugging the hand away while doing so. When walking into the hall she screams when discovering a massive strange man in the hallway.
Miss Winters than also grabs her hips, gently, only making her panic more until the taller woman whispers something in her ear. ''Shh, it's just Sif. He is my, and so your, loyal bodyguard. He will protect you, calm down.'' Rain kisses Billy's head.
The sweets gesture to calm her, however, as they were intended. It just disgusts and confuses her. Where was that stoic woman that tried to kill her, did she just vanish and was replaced by this sweet or caring woman.
Must be an act, Billy concluded.
Billy wants to reach for her bag but Sif grabs it quickly and gives her a sad smile. ''That's mine,'' Billy barks at him. She can hear Rain laugh behind her and that's when she notices that she is still being held. Quickly she pulls away and grabs her bag from Sif.
''You'll get is back, darling, don't worry,'' Rain speaks with an amused look at she sees the young girl squint her eyes at the large man and then marching out the door. ''Are we going or what,'' she calls out going straight to the black sleek car Billy assumes is the rich ladies.
The driver looks at Lady who lets him unlock the car. When he does Billy opens the boots and struggles her bag into it. ''Oh, love, we can do that for-'' Suddenly fourteen girls run out of the house nearly pushing rain into the bushes if it was not for Sif.
Most had been listening quietly upstairs and when Billy was packing went to question Miss Abby who- as always- told them the exact truth. In a matter of seconds, everybody was crying and hugging each other.
The girls begged her not to go but Billy stayed quiet. She knew she had to go but also knew she would be begging the very same way if it wasn't her but someone else. Rain slowly approaches the group with a sad smile.
''Time to wrap up girls, it's time to go home.'' All of them throw her a nasty glare but do let go of their friend. When the last one has backed off and walked back to the home only then Rain lays her hand on Billy's lower back helping her into the car.
When Billy is in Rain shoves herself into the car forcing Billy to move over to the seat away from her friends. She looks over Rain outside until she closes the door with black windows. She looks at the girls crying and waving. Tears start to well in Billy her eyes as well but they stay fixed on the other girls.
The driver then sets off and within seconds they left the street that brought Billy so many good memories. Rains runs a hand though her hair and gives Billy a smile. ''Don't worry about it, sweetheart, I'll treat you right.''
