The safe house was quieter than usual, the tension palpable as the group processed their narrow escape from the storage facility. Claire sat at the dining table, a stack of files in front of her, but her mind kept drifting back to Grayson’s cryptic warning. “Twenty-four hours,” she muttered to herself, the words echoing in her mind like a ticking clock. John entered the room, carrying two mugs of steaming coffee. He set one in front of her and took the seat across from her. “How are you holding up?” he asked, his tone gentle. Claire looked up at him, her eyes shadowed with exhaustion. “I don’t know. It feels like we’re always one step behind Robert.” John reached across the table, his hand covering hers. “We’re closer than we’ve ever been. These files are the key to taking him down.”
