Chapter 20
Doc Longenbaugh wasn’t letting anyone into his clinic to talk to traumatized women, and his nurse was happy to enforce that declaration. She included Paul and his team, Lanky and his pilots, the air force pilots, and God himself: no one was talking to the victims until the first medical assessment was done.
Paul was fine with that. Dace was safe. That was all that mattered, although the AF captain was talking about charging her with theft.
“Is it an AF plane?” Paul asked.
“No,” the captain said stiffly. “But it belongs to an AF pilot.”
“Then it’s a civilian matter,” Paul pointed out. “And she’s returned the plane, after using it to fly med evac. Are you really thinking she should be charged with theft? Given the situation she was fleeing from?”
