Layla didn't say anything; she just walked away.
I didn't need her to say it even once for me to know that I had to follow her.
I turned around to look at Noah. "Em... Noah, I'll be right back." Then I glanced at the older man who Layla came with.
That must be her bastard father.
He looked confused, too, but instead of saying anything, he just walked away. The woman beside him tried to call him back, but he dragged her along quietly.
Layla must have said something to him already because if not, by now, my mission would be over, and I would have been running from my life.
My heart kept drumming in my chest...I could swear that even Noah could hear it.
