Vladimir’s POV
“Here. You can sign that tomorrow after reading it.” He said.
Claire took the contract.
Vladimir saw Claire wiping her tears away when he entered a while ago. So, he contemplates giving the contract to her. That’s why she did those things towards Claire.
He wants to assure her that he will take care of his child and her.
He wanted to tell her that he was ready to raise the baby.
That he will raise his son on his own.
“What’s this for?” Claire asked.
“A contract of giving me the custody of the child,” Vladimir answered.
Claire is still looking at the papers.
“Why should I give you the sole custody to my child? This child is also mine,” Claire said while holding her stomach and look at him.
“You don’t have to pay me to raise my child. That is my responsibility as the mother. I don’t need your money .”
Then she put the contract on the side table and lay down on her bed.
Hmmm. You don’t want an easy, huh. Okay. I’ll give you the hard way, then.
Vladimir left the contract then walked out of the room.
Claire’s POV
“You don’t have to pay me to raise my child. That is my responsibility as the mother. I don’t need your money .”
Then Claire put the contract on the side table and lay down on the bed.
The nerve! What does he think of me, a beggar!
Claire heard the door open then closed.
She looked at the door and saw that Vladimir was gone, but the contract was still there.
“I won’t sign those papers! Hmmph!”
After wiping away her tears Claire looked at him in the eyes and grabbed the contract from his hand.
She searched a pen inside her bag but she couldn't find one, she looked at him again and saw pen on his coat.
She walked near him and grabbed the pen.
“Okay, I’ll sign it then.”
Claire signed the contract without rereading it.
“Happy now?” And handed him the contract.
He took it.
“The contract changed, by the way,” Vladimir said.
“I don’t care.”
“ You have to live with me for 365 days, Claire.”
“I don’t ---what?”
“Come with me now. The contract also states that you don’t need to work while you are pregnant. Also, I will give you compensation as the mother of my son.” Vladimir gently grab her hand walked towards the exit.
“And, ”They stopped from walking.
“You will marry me.”
“What?!”
Claire stayed in the hospital for another two days as per the doctor.
After her discharge from the hospital, she went to her house.
She got home and washed her uniform to prepare for her work tomorrow.
Morning came, and Claire got ready to go to work. She went out and closed her apartment door, and waited for a public utility vehicle to arrive.
After 10 minutes of waiting, a public utility vehicle came. She opened the door and sat on the passenger’s seat.
She paid for the fee and took her earphones out to listen to the music.
Forty minutes passed and she arrived at Greenhills. She walked towards her workplace and came after a ten-minute walk.
Her managers her and walked towards her.
“Claire. Why---I mean you haven’t received the email yet?”
“What email, Ma’am, ?” Claire asked.
“Our boss,” Her manager sighed. “Just check your email, Claire.”
So, Claire checked her email and saw that they fired her for not coming to work for two days.
“But I thought it was an excused absence because he said he was --- Where is he?” Claire asked her manager.
“He’s inside the office.”
“Thank you, Ma’am”
She walked towards the office when her phone vibrated. It was her sister Carla.
“Hello?”
She heard her sister crying over the phone.
“Badi? Badi, I lost my scholarship. They told me that I am not eligible to become a scholar anymore. They said that we have to pay the other half of my tuition fee so that I can still continue my studies.” Her sister said while crying.
“Im sorry, badi.”
“What? Why? I mean, you’re grades were excellent so why did they remove your scholarship?”
“I don’t really know, badi.” Her sister said.
Her sister was still crying, when someone spoke from her behind.
“Hi.”
Claire knew that it was Vladimir.
“Carla, I’ll call you later, okay. We will settle this. Stop crying. Everything will be alright. Bye.”
She ended the call and spoke to Vladimir without looking at him.
“Was it you?” Clare held her tears and looked at Vladimir.
“Was it you?”
“What do you mean?”
“Don’t play with me! Was it you who fired me? Was it you who removed my sister’s scholarship? Of course, why do I have to ask the obvious!”
Vladimir looked at her.
“Sign the papers, and I will bring everything back to normal.”
He then handed the contract to her.
“f**k, this contract, Vlad! Do you really have to ruin my sister's future just to get what you want? How cold-blooded are you?!” Claire said furiously.
“Sign it,” Vladimir said.
“I can take it if you just fired me, I can just look for another job but you even---” Tears fell from Claire’s eyes.
She turned around and wiped away her tears.
After wiping away her tears Claire looked at him in the eyes and grabbed the contract from his hand.
She searched a pen inside her bag but she couldn't find one, she looked at him again and saw pen on his coat.
She walked near him and grabbed the pen.
“Okay, I’ll sign it then.”
Claire signed the contract without rereading it.
“Happy now?” And handed him the contract.
Vladimir just looked and her and took the contract from her.
“Well, that’s good.” He took the pen from her and put it back to his coat.
“Oh! I almost forgot to tell you, the contract changed, by the way,” Vladimir said.
“I don’t care.” Claire said and continued looking at him sharply.
“ You have to live with me for 365 days, Claire.”
“I don’t ---what?”
“Come with me now.” Vladimir gently grab her hand walked towards the exit.
