Chapter 5 The Blue Moon Night

1238 Words
Arthur’s POV: Pride fills my chest as my mate’s firm and determined roar reaches my ear. The aura she gives off is intimidating. Normally, alpha daughters are trained to be a Luna, but Mia appears different. Her vibe is that of an Alpha. I don’t know how she manages to do it in the absence of her wolf. I haven't seen anything like this before. Even herself is shocked by the power she radiates. My gut feeling tells me that she is special. Most Alphas don’t like their mate to be stronger or as strong as them; they regard it as a threat. But not me. My wolf and I are proud of our Luna. And the frightened look on Henry's and his dogs' faces is funny. I can’t hold back a chuckle. Mia glances at them one last time before sliding into my car. I help her fix the dress, then stride around to the driver’s side. From behind, I hear Henry yelling at his men, calling them good-for-nothings. I smirk and shut the door. “You’re impressive!” I wink at Mia as I fire up the car. “Thank you,” she grins bashfully. She gives me her friend’s address, saying she’ll stay there for the next few days. Then silence fills the car. My wolf urges me to make small talk with her. He craves to hear our mate’s melodious voice. But I don’t act on that, simply watching Mia as she sits quietly with her eyes closed to rest. She must be burned out. I focus on the road and glance at her from time to time, feeling content with her by my side. After one and a half an hour, we arrive at the address. It’s on the outskirts of the town, kind of in the middle of nowhere. But the view is lovely, with a forest stretching out before the small cabin. Leaning in, I contain the desire to touch my mate and taste her. Her sleeping face is angelic, with perfectly-arched eyebrows, a gently rounded nose, and full, rosy lips that complement her overall look. I’m already imagining what our pups will look like with her exquisite features. As if feeling my hot breath, she squirms in her seat, moves her head a bit, and then opens her eyes, looking at me glassily. “Hey, little one, we’re here,” I say, sitting back up. “Okay,” she adjusts the suit jacket I put on her shoulders, unbuckles her seatbelt, and gets ready to exit the vehicle. “Wait,” I stop her, “give me your phone.” She whips around, eyeing me with dilated pupils, “it’s broken!” “I know. So I’m gonna fix it up for you,” I say, pulling out a tool kit from the storage compartment. Mia exhales in relief, handing me her phone. “I look like a robber?” “No, no. It’s just too sudden,” she shakes her head frantically, biting her lower lip while looking at me apologetically. F*ck! The effect! It takes every ounce of my control not to reach up and devour her little cherry mouth. “You really know your stuff!” She exclaims after I give back her repaired phone. My wolf is on cloud nine. The compliment gives him a huge ego boost. "A teenage hobby that has stuck with me," I shrug, pretending it’s no big deal. With a cocky smile lingering around my mouth, I hop out of the car, strolling to the passenger’s side. I enjoy the moment of opening the door for my mate and seeing her beautiful face welcome me. She’s even more beautiful in person than in her photo; her eyes sparkle like stars. I bend down, about to scoop her up when she cranes her neck out of the car, but she holds up two hands, stopping me. "Thank you, Precious. But I'm good to go on my own. It’s just a few steps. No need to worry about me.” A faint blush creeps onto her cheek, tugging at my heartstrings. Is she thinking back about how I carried her just now? In the blink of an eye, she darts from the car towards the cabin. I gasp at her lightning speed and agility. Impressive! “See, I’m all good!” She cheers, giving me a radiant smile. “I'll reach out to you shortly after this is all over. Then, we can proceed with the divorce.” She pulls out her phone, “Can you give me your phone number?” “It’s already in your contacts,” I reply while assuring my wolf that I won’t let the divorce happen. Her mouth forms an “O” shape before snorting cutely and replying, “You tricky little devil.” With a wave of her hand, she turns around, unlocks the door, and enters. “I'll be in touch soon. Bye!” She looks flustered, and I don’t know why. Doesn’t she like my company? I start replaying every detail of today, trying to figure out if I did anything inappropriate with her. I shake my head after finding no answers. Perhaps she’s just too tired. I get into my car and leave. Grinning, I whistle and beat out a rhythm on the steering wheel to a made-up tune as I follow the winding road to my pack. I’m thoroughly content, or if I’m being honest, pretty excited. I’ve found my mate, and not only is she beautiful, but she is also perfect in every way. However, my wolf feels the opposite. He is pissed off at me, accusing me of not marking our mate, and leaving her alone. As a primal being, he has no idea about human sensibilities. He only knows to conquer and possess. Right now, he is fighting against me, trying to rip free of my body, with an urgent desire to claim our mate. I have to muster every ounce of strength to keep him in check. He’s a wild beast. I can’t imagine what he will do to our little mate if I let him out. I don’t want to push Mia or coerce her. I need time to clear up the bastard image she has of Arthur Moore and make her mate with me of her own free will. Plus, I don’t forget, it’s the Blue Moon Night. We have a pack run for every full moon. My original plan was to introduce my Luna to the pack and we lead the run together. Now, the plan has to be altered, but the run can’t be canceled. It’s an opportunity to reinforce the bond within the pack. And, it’s the Blue Moon. The lunar energy is even more immense. Channeling its power will make every wolf stronger on this night. Outside, the full moon has risen high, showering the land with shimmering silver beams. I stare at the bright moon and think of my lovely mate. I wish she was here. Just a momentary lapse, and Marcus takes the upper hand. My car hits the guardrail. I hear the cracking of bones, muscles rippling beneath my skin, fur erupting from my skin. The next second, my wolf breaks through my body, dashing out of the front window, and standing on all fours. Lifting his head to the moon, he unleashes a long, loud howl: Mate!
