Carmen turned to Aiden. “Is any of that true?” He asked.
The camera zoomed in on him. Aiden was silent for a moment. He leaned slightly forward.
“No.” The audience murmured.
Aiden’s voice cut through the room like a scalpel. “Tina never gave me a single cent. In fact, I have records of multiple times I bailed her out of credit card debt and paid her rent when she was jobless. I still have the bank transfers to prove it.”
Tina’s smile faltered. “You’re twisting…”
Aiden cut in. “You also never believed in me,” Aiden continued in a slow tone level but firm. “You told me I was wasting my time chasing startups. You laughed when I said I would build something real. I have audio of that conversation. Would you like to hear it?” He shifted the muscles of his face.
The screen behind them lit up.
“SYSTEM: PLAYBACK INITIATED – FILE: Tina_Refuses_to_Invest.mp3.”
Tina’s voice echoed through the speakers,
“Why are you still clinging to this fantasy, Aiden? You’re not Elon Musk. Just get a job like everyone else.”
The studio went dead silent after it played. Carmen’s brows rose in disbelief.
Aiden turned calmly toward Tina. “You told the world you supported my dream. That you helped build my empire. What you really did was mock me, cheated on me, lie about me, and try to use my name when I finally made it.”
Tina’s lips twitched. “This is a personal attack.”
“Then let’s talk about the businesses you scammed people with,” Aiden said.
The screen behind them shifted again.
Slide 1 was a wellness brand Tina launched two years ago. Slide 2 was complaints filed to the Federal Trade Commission about fake product claims. Slide 3 was a screenshot of Tina’s text to her assistant,
“Just slap ‘organic’ on the bottle. Who’s going to test it?”
Audience gasps in surprise.
Carmen blinked. “Is this… real?”
“Every claim is backed by the forensic verification algorithm,” Aiden replied coolly. “And there’s more.”
“SYSTEM: Initiate Visual Timeline Tina’s Lies: A Chronicle”
And on-screen, a full timeline emerged, “Tina falsely claimed co-founder status in Aiden’s startup. She attempted to register one of his company trademarks under her name. She pitched a fake engagement ring sponsorship for clout—never engaged. She leaked photoshopped DMs to gossip blogs to portray Aiden as abusive.”
With each slide, Tina's face drained. Her performative facade shattered.
“This is… this is character assassination,” she spat. “You’re a narcissist. You planned this just to hurt me!”
“No, Tina,” Aiden said with a sharp eyes. “You hurt yourself when you built your image on lies. I’m just holding up the mirror.”
Carmen leaned in, now fully invested in the whole thing. “Tina, do you deny the trademark incident?”
Tina opened her mouth but the screen lit up again. A legal document appeared, signed by her, attempting to claim CrossCore Tech as her own.
The audience turned on her in real time with Boos, murmurs and phones recording.
The livestream chat exploded,
“She’s done.”
“Receipts don’t lie.”
“Aiden playing chess while she’s stuck on checkers.”
At the backstage, Tina’s PR team panicked. Her agent texted immediately, “Walk out NOW. Damage control plan B.”
But Tina froze.
Carmen looked to Aiden. “What do you want out of this, Aiden? Is it revenge?”
He shook his head. “No. I want the truth out. Because this is bigger than me and Tina. Too many people out there are manipulated by curated lies. Influence is powerful. If it’s built on fiction, it becomes dangerous.”
He glanced at the camera. “I’m here to remind people, verify before you vilify.”
Applause erupted.
Tina stood abruptly, trying to recover her dignity. “This is ridiculous. I’m done.” She stormed off stage. Her heels clacked in rage.
Aiden remained seated in silence.
Carmen leaned forward. “You knew this would happen. Why do it live?”
Aiden met her gaze. “Because in a world obsessed with curated reality, the only antidote is undeniable exposure.”
The broadcast trended #1 worldwide.
Within minutes, Tina’s sponsors dropped her. Her i********: lost 300,000 followers in a single hour. CrossCore stock spiked 17% as public sentiment rallied behind Aiden. Influencers posted support videos, calling him a “truth pioneer.”
He didn’t care about the clout. This was about settling scores and setting examples.
………
Later that night, back in his penthouse, Aiden poured himself a glass of whiskey and sat by the window, gazing out at the skyline.
The system buzzed in his head, “SYSTEM REWARD UNLOCKED:
+15,000 Influence Points
Passive Trait Gained: Public Trust Aura – Reputation shields you from smear campaigns unless proof exists.
He sipped his drink
……………
“Ray Carter,” the name still tasted bitter in Aiden’s mouth.
He was the schoolyard tyrant who made Aiden’s childhood hell. Ray was more than just a bully. He was a manipulative monster who rallied others to torment Aiden. He made him the punchline of every cruel joke. Back then, Ray laughed as Aiden sat alone, drenched in water from a broken locker. Even when his science project mysteriously went missing before judging day, he mocked him for being careless when he was behind stealing it.
Now, Ray ran a mid-sized construction company called Carter Core Solutions, which had been landing suspiciously high-value government contracts despite poor delivery and subpar materials. The system flagged him two weeks ago, "Target Identified: Ray Carter. Corruption Potential: HIGH. Justice Protocol Suggested."
Aiden didn’t hesitate.
With a swift tap, he activated the “Reputation Exposure sub-quest.” The system displayed Ray’s recent financials, which showed bloated invoices, shell contractor payments, and a series of quiet settlements with unhappy clients. Clearly, Ray hadn't changed. He had just traded fists for fraud.
But Aiden wasn’t after just financial exposure.
He wanted justice. A big reckoning worthy of every scar and every humiliation he went through.
……
Aiden used one of his subsidiaries to place a competitive bid for a massive downtown remodeling project. It was one of Ray banking on to salvage his dwindling company credibility. The bid from Aiden’s front firm, Drake & Sons Infrastructure, came in leaner, cleaner, and with better investor backing. Ray didn’t even make the shortlist.
Next, Aiden hosted a press event to announce the launch of a community-first green construction initiative, something Ray had falsely promised in the past but never delivered. With cameras flashing and social media buzzing, Aiden pledged 300 local jobs and eco-friendly housing for underserved neighborhoods.
“Unlike some,” Aiden said into the mic, locking eyes with Ray who stood stiff at the back of the room, “we deliver on our promises.”
The crowd erupted in cheers.
Ray stormed out and the cameras caught it all.
……
Ray was infuriated and tried to strike back.
That evening, he went live on a small podcast and began ranting, “Aiden Cross is a fraud. He’s using dirty money and fake companies. He’s no different than the losers he claims to expose.”
It was a bad move.
The system buzzed in, “ Engaging Reputation Defense Protocol.”
Within minutes, Aiden’s team launched a full public investigation on Ray’s shady dealings. After the investigation, evidences like, bank records, whistleblower testimonies, and leaked internal emails showing misappropriated government funds were gotten. The exposé went live during Ray’s rant, with major media houses picking it up instantly.
Comments flooded in, “Ray Carter scammed my father’s housing complex. Finally getting what he deserves!”
“Karma’s got a last name, Cross.”
“Aiden is singlehandedly cleaning the city. Respect!”
Ray’s sponsors dropped him. His suppliers froze contracts. Three pending deals collapsed in under 24 hours.
…..
Ray didn’t go down quietly. He showed up uninvited at Aiden’s next public engagement. A televised ribbon-cutting ceremony at a housing site Carter Core had previously abandoned.
Ray shoved his way through the crowd with his chest heaving. “You think you’ve won, Aiden? You think humiliating me makes you better?”
Aiden turned slowly, the cameras rolling with his figure.
“No, Ray,” he said coolly. “I don’t think humiliating you makes me better. But giving justice to every person you screwed over? That does.”
He held up a file, flipping it open.
“This is a signed affidavit from one of your ex-clients. You promised earthquake-safe buildings. You used outdated steel. Had there been even a mild tremor, that school could’ve collapsed.”
The crowd gasped. Journalists zoomed in.
Ray tried to lunge but security grabbed him.
Before he was escorted out, Aiden whispered just loud enough for the mics to catch, “This time, the locker’s yours. Enjoy the silence.”
………
Aiden didn’t just want revenge. He wanted impact.
The buildings Ray once left abandoned were now being redesigned under Aiden’s team. He hired a crew of young architects, including one who Ray had once fired for “not being tough enough” and gave them full creative control.
His tenant-first policy included rent caps, free utility months for low-income families, and child education grants. Each building had a plaque that read, “Redeveloped for the People, Not for Profit.”
Beneath it was Aiden's name.
………
The system buzzed that evening.
“Justice Protocol: Complete. Ray Carter Neutralized.”

Aiden stared at the data as he took a deep breath.
