Why Did I Do This ...Again?

BANG.

Valerie slammed her bedroom door and locked it. Twice.

Her back hit the door and she slid down to the floor, her CEO skirt in her hands, Kyle's scent still on her skin.

"This can't happen," she whispered, shaking her head fast, tears already falling. "This can't happen. This can't happen. This can't happen."

She hit her own forehead with her palm.

"What's wrong with you, Valerie? What's WRONG with you? Why did you do this? Why did you make this mistake AGAIN?"

Six years ago she was 16 and stupid. But now? Now she was 22. A CEO. A mother. She should know better.

"I knew. I knew I still loved him. Why did I come back? Why?"

She stood up and started pacing her big, empty, expensive bedroom like a crazy person, talking to herself.

"If I shouldn't have come back... if I never came back to Korea... Kyle would have been fine! He would have moved on! He would be with his girlfriend! He has a girlfriend, right? He must have a girlfriend! He's Kyle Fernandez, producer of Korea's top boy group, handsome, rich — of course he has a girlfriend!"

Her voice cracked. The thought of Kyle with another woman made her chest hurt more than anything.

"Yes! He should have a girlfriend! A pretty idol girlfriend! And I ruined it! I came back with Moonlight and ruined his life again! Why did I make this mistake again?"

She looked at herself in the big mirror. Hair messy, lips swollen from last night's kiss, wearing Kyle's black t-shirt that was too big for her.

She looked like a woman who had just spent the night with the man she loved. Not like a CEO.

"I hate you, Valerie Rivera," she whispered to her reflection, crying hard now. "You are 22 and you still can't control yourself around him. You are still that 16-year-old girl who believed 'I love you' in the."

KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK.

"VALERIE! Open the door!" Kyle's voice. He was angry and worried. "I can hear you talking inside! Open it!"

"I don't want to see you!" Valerie shouted back, crying. "Go away!

Silence outside .

Why did you let me stay last night? Why did you kiss me back? You should have pushed me away!"

The door handle shook. Kyle was trying to open it.

"Valerie,Kyle called.

"Leave Kyle" Valerie shouted, tears streaming. "All men lie! You lied 6 years ago too! You said you would never leave and then you left!

Outside, Kyle closed his eyes. He remembered

"Valerie I'm sorry"

"I don't believe you!" Valerie sat back on the floor, hugging her knees, sobbing into Kyle's t-shirt. "I shouldn't have come back. Moonlight and I should have stayed in America. Then you would be happy. You would be married to the girl you were kissing and I wouldn't have made this mistake again..."

The door was still locked. Kyle took a deep breath. Then he did something he didn't do for 6 years.

He slid down and sat on the floor outside her door, just like in high school, and said the truth loudly so she could hear through the door.

"I'm sorry Valerie,I've loved you and no one else.I never had one after you. For 6 years, I had no one. Because no one was you. Do you hear me? No one was you."

Inside, Valerie's crying quieted a little.

"And I didn't move on," Kyle continued, his voice cracking now too. "I couldn't. I produced sad love songs for 6 years because of you. Every love song I wrote was about you. The boys know. Ask Ian. Ask Leonard All my songs are about a girl I left 6 years ago.

Valerie put her hand over her mouth.

Valerie finally, slowly, unlocked the door.

She opened it just a little, eyes red, face wet.

Kyle stood up fast. He was in tears too.

"It was a mistake Kyle,last night was a mistake" she whispered,."

Valerie looked at him, shaking. "So stay away from me,cause I'm never going to forgive you.U think it's easy I raised Moonlight all alone for 6years,I dropped out from high school to take care of Moonlight,I worked day and night and you think it's easy to forgive you,No I'm not going to forgive you,

Kyle's eyes went wide.

"I don't care!" she cried. "I'll never forgive you, Kyle Fernandez. Never. I have given your daughter back to you,I have given you the chance to be a dad ,but that doesn't change anything between you and I ,not even last night so leave me alone."

BANG.

She slammed the door in his face and locked it.

Outside, Kyle stood alone, hand on the door, tears falling.

Inside, Valerie slid down the door, crying alone in his t-shirt.

One door. Two people. Both broken.
