The Rainy Night

Heavy rain. 11:47 PM.

The mansion was silent. Moonlight was fast asleep in her princess castle room on the other side of the house, hugging her teddy bear. The 6 boys — Ian, Lucas and the others — were all fast asleep after their concert practice.

Only Valerie was awake.

She sat on the floor in the big living room, by the huge window, a small glass of wine in her hand she touched. Tears rolled down her cold CEO face.

It rained exactly like this 6 years ago. The night everything broke.The night Kyle rejected her daughter.

Kyle came out of his room for water. He saw her.

"Valerie?"

Valerie looked up, eyes red. She didn't mind him,she sat there quietly.

Kyle sat next to her on the floor, leaving space.

Silence. Only rain.

Valerie whispered, voice shaking, "You know what I hated most? I didn't hate that you left. I hated that I still loved you after. For 6 years, I still loved you. Only you. I never dated anyone, Kyle. Never,but you...you had a girlfriend you moved on.

Kyle's eyes filled with tears. "Valerie, I never loved anyone else either. Only you. Since we were 16."

Valerie was crying now. Kyle slowly wiped her tears with his thumb. Valerie pushed him away.,but Kyle hugged her tightly.

"Valerie..." he whispered.

No response.

Kyle then kissed her, Soft at first, then desperate — 6 years of missing, hurt, and love all at once.

Kyle picked her up gently. His room was far — far from Moonlight's princess room, far from the 6 sleeping boys. No one would wake up. Rain covered everything.

He closed the door.

That night, history repeated. Not as a mistake, but as two adults who never stopped loving each other.

Morning came. Valerie woke up in Kyle's bed, in his shirt, Kyle asleep holding her waist,she pushed Kyle away,she panicked,"No ..no this can't be"she left Kyle's room immediately.

"She was afraid ..what have I done no..no this can't be happening" she said.
