Rewritten Hearts

The Test

Valerie had been feeling sick for 2 good weeks.

She taught it was malaria,she was tired all the time,throwing up every morning,she couldn't eat,she felt dizzy in class,her mother Luna knew something was wrong with her daughter,she asked her what's wrong but Valerie didn't know,so Luna gave her medicine but it didn't work.

"Hey girl what's wrong you look pale"Fernanda ask she was Valerie's best friend ,Valerie looked at her and said "I don't know but I feel unwell" Fernanda stared at her for a while and said something that made Valerie heart stopped.

"Valerie....when was your last period"?.

Valerie couldn't remember.

Fernanda didn't say anything else,when class was over she took Valerie's hand and walked her to a pharmacy near the school,Valerie's hand were shaking to the extend that she couldn't hold the money,she bought the pregnancy kit and left for home,her mom wasn't around.

Inside the bathroom of her house,she stared at the small white stick in her hands,the instruction said wait 3minutes.

Every minute felt like an hour,she closed her eyes and prayed with Fernanda by her side,she said no..no I'm only in 10th grade,I can't be a mother now tears flowed from her eyes, Fernanda hugged her and reassured her that everything will be fine .

The time was up,she opened her eyes,two pink lines,she froze,shaken,she slid down to the cold floor crying,tears fell on the plastic ,Fernanda run to her,she paced her hands on her shoulder and hugged her she said "Val I'm here for you I'm not leaving your side".

She was 16 and pregnant,her first thought was Kyle,he would be happy right ?she asked Fernanda.

"Yes she would be very excited ,he loves you with his whole heart",Fernanda replied.

She cleaned her face,and left the bathroom to her room , Fernanda followed,she sat on the bed facing the window,quiet and like someone who has lost hope, Fernanda stayed with her all night until they heard the bell rang,Valerie went downstairs and open the gate only to find Kyle,she was surprised she said "Kyle what are you doing here"?What am I doing here?I have been calling you but you never picked my calls,why what's wrong?Kyle asked, she stood there confused,"Kyle there is something I have to tell you"Valerie said."Okay I'm all ears "Kyle said.

"K...kyle ...Kyle I'm pregnant"Valerie said.Kyle smile faded,he stood there frozen,he went back,looked at Valerie and said"You are what,I know you are joking right cause I'm too young to be a father,stop joking okay"."I'm serious Kyle I'm pregnant,I'm also not happy with this I'm just 16 and too young to be a mother".

Valerie , I can't .....I can't be a father,I'm just 17,my parents will kill me,I also have dreams, I can't let this baby ruin my dreams.

"What do you mean by that"Valerie asked,

What I'm saying is that I can't ...I can't accept this you have to remove that thing".

Valerie felt her whole world break into pieces,the guy who promised to be with her no matter what,just broke his promise"No,she cried, I'll keep my baby,you can leave and achieve your dreams,I'll raise my baby alone no matter what.

Kyle turned away and said"Then you'll do it alone cause I'm not letting this destroy my dreams ,he left.
