19 Sunday, March 10, 2015 6:49 p.m. Giulianna folded her jacket and put it in her luggage. She closed it and looked at her watch. She still had an hour before she drove back to London. She regretted offering a ride to Christina and Henriette because stopping by her parents’ seemed a better idea, now. Her mother would cuddle her and feed her enough comfort foods to mend her broken heart. She sighed and walked to the window. Lakeside Park stood outlined against the strange, fragile twilight, appearing somehow softer. She had hoped Richard would appear this morning at breakfast, but the minutes ticked by and after the brunch had finished and she had cleaned all her utensils—and the kitchen, too, just for stalling—her hopes had dwindled.
