Novela's POV
I quickly ended the call and hung up .
In my attempt to duck lower a pair of footsteps came closer. If it's just one person it's easy to escape. I prepared myself against whoever was coming. The first thing I saw was the shoe. Then slowly I lifted my head. My hand moved to my mouth immediately as I gasped.
It was the man from earlier. He must have followed me here.
"Don't try anything funny." He warned.
Who was I kidding? He pointed a gun. To my direction. Even if I wanted to run , I wouldn't go far. And he's pretty fast with his gun, I wouldn't stand a chance if I tried to fight.
I stood properly fixing my stance and stared back at him.Refusing to let the fear show. With my bag still in my hand.
"Are you following me around or what?" I asked .
"You could say that. But I don't care." He said nonchalantly.
" I could sue you, you know that right." I bounced slightly on my feet, hoping he didn't notice.
"We both know who will end up in jail." He said, handing me an envelope.
" In there is the address to where you'll be tomorrow. Don't be late."
"What if I don't show up?" I asked quickly.
He looked at me for a second," you don't want to find out."
And with that he was gone. He vanished into the darkness like he never appeared. I could taste fear on my tongue.
Shit!
I was stronger than this.
" Novela you are stronger than this." I muttered to myself.
I put the envelope into my bag, stayed still for a while to make sure no one else was coming. I carefully made my way out of the alley. I pulled my hoodie over my head to cover me from being recognised.
Stepping out of the Shadows suddenly it began to rain.
Could this night get any worse?
I picked up my pace and started running to the nearest shelter. I couldn't afford for the envelope to get drenched. What if I can't get to the address on time? I had no interest in finding that out.
"Watch it b***h!" A man spat when I bumped into him.
I didn't bother to apologise, I just needed to get to shelter as soon as possible.
Finally, I got to the entrance of an old abandoned hospital. I pushed the gate with care and it surprisingly opened.
Well, guess I'm lucky with this. I ran quickly to the main entrance which had a place I could stay without getting wet. The lights were probably dead, which was good because I didn't want anyone seeing me there.
"Who's there?" I heard the voice of an old man.
I froze at first, but moved quickly when I saw movements of light, probably from a touch light. I stood behind one of the large pillars.
"Hello." He called out again.
I've had a really long night, getting caught now will ruin everything. With my bag clutched to my chest, I prayed silently. Then he was gone.
" Phew!" I sighed when I no longer saw his touch light reflection.
That was close. My legs gave out and I sat on the floor. I unzip my bag and brought out
The envelope the mysterious man from earlier had given me.
Inside the envelope was a piece of paper.
~53 Holdlies Backstreet Avenue.
10:30am.
"You've got to be kidding me." I muttered into the cold air.
The location was an abandoned warehouse. It was a place where the smallest mistake could cause one their life.
I was so frustrated and tired but not stupid enough to not go. I've heard stories of the big bad boss. The one who makes people disappear. The boss no one has ever seen.
I was cold but the only place I slept was in an abandoned hospital. And I don't want to freeze to death.
I held my bag to myself and slowly the darkness creeped in.
I woke up tired, but decided to quickly find my way to Holdlies. Finally putting on my phone I checked the time. It was almost 10:30. I had nothing to worry about since I appeared early, but that doesn't mean I'm not a bit nervous.
"Your bag" , one of the ugly looking thugs—because that's what they are, snapped.
"I don't think being stupid will make you hot" I muttered, risking his furry.
He didn't do anything. He dragged my bag and phone from my hands.
"Get in," he ordered.
He must have really had a terrible life to be so not nice.
I strolled into the warehouse. A lot of guys were dressed in suits like this one outside, black suit and tie.
Inside the warehouse I was directed through a small door that led to an office. It was a mini office with just two chairs and a desk.
"Sit." The manly voice came from behind a newspaper behind the only table in the office.
What's with all the one or word commands? Was it like a thing for them or something?
I took my seat.
"I have a job offer for you." The voice kinda sent chills through me .
He closed the newspaper, dropped it on the desk to reveal a very good looking man of around thirty-five or thirty-six. He has brown piercing eyes with silky back hair.
"I'm not interested." I murmured.
My voice was low but high enough for him to hear
"You don't have a choice. You have to."
"What the hell is this? You want me to do a job for you, but you're threatening me. That doesn't make any sense ." I said
"It's a job you can't refuse." He said a dropped a file on the desk for me to pick up
I opened the file and saw Blackwell industries. I've heard of them, in fact everyone knew the company. They were into fashion or something. The Blackwell guy's picture was attached in the file. He wasn't bad looking. I kept opening the pages until...
"Oh my goodness." My jaw almost touched the ground.
What the hell is going on here?
