Chapter 7

Lucas's P.O.V

"Cara, can you hear me sweetheart? Open your eyes please.” I begged.

“This is not going the way that I thought it would.” I said turning to Eric.

I knew she wouldn’t take it well, but I didn’t think she would pass out from the shock of it.

"Looks like you shocked the hell out of her,” Eric joked.

"Really, I hadn’t noticed Mr. show her.”

“She's going to be fine Lucas. What we really need to be worrying about is how you’re going to convince her to let you mark her.” He said looking over at Carra.

“I'll worry about that once she wakes up. For now I have to get back to my house. Stephen is tracking down all there is to know about Adam. I need to make sure that my pack is ready for anything that may come our way. Call me when she wakes up.”

Carra’s P.O.V

He had turned into a freaking wolf. A big black giant wolf to be accurate.

Now that I was thinking about it Eric had been so calm about all this. If I remember right he was the one who had told Lucas to show me.

That traitor knew.

"Eric, get in this room right now." I yelled at the top of my lungs.

What is it sis?" He asked walking through the door.

"I know you knew. You sorry good for nothing worst brother in the entire world" I yelled.

"Yes I did know, but in my defense would you have believed me if I would have told you.” He said making sense.

“Still, how could you keep something like this from me? He's a giant wolf Eric. What if he decides to eat me or something.”

“Carra, you’re kidding right?" Eric said falling on the floor laughing.

"It’s not funny Eric! It could happen.”

“No it can't Carra. Lucas would never hurt you in human or wolf form. You’re his mate all he wants is to keep you safe.” He said looking serious.

“What does that even mean Eric? So, I’m his mate so what?”

“Carra you don't get it. Wolves mate for life. He would die for you Sis. Why do you think that you feel the way you do about him? It’s because you guys are meant to be together. He will never want anyone else but you. He was yours from the day he met you. The mate bond is very strong only death can break it.” He said knowing way more about this than I thought.

Lucas's P.O.V

I pulled up to my house the pack was already there waiting for me. I smiled as I stepped out of my car knowing that these people would die to protect my mate.

Stephen came out of the house with a frown on his face. That could not be a good sign.

"What’s wrong" I asked.

“Bro, you’re not going to like what I’m about to tell you.” He said anger in his voice.

“Just tell me. “I said the suspense killing me.

“It turns out Adam is a shifter. He’s from the redwood pack. And get this not only is he pack but he's the Alpha's son.”

“Are you telling me that asshole is a future Alpha?” I growled out.

“Thankfully no, he has an older brother. But his pack is behind him in coming for Carra. He says that she's his mate.” He frowned.

“That’s bull. She’s my mate!”

“When have you ever heard of a male wolf hitting his mate. His pack has to know what he did to her. Let them come. As Alpha I’m stronger. And it doesn’t hurt that my pack is one of the biggest. He’s crazy if he thinks that he will ever touch her. Tell my father what's going on. I need to get back to Carra."

Carra's P.O.V

I still could not believe everything that had happened today. First Adam and then it turns out my boyfriend can turn into a wolf. I had all kinds of questions that I wanted to ask.

"Are you feeling better?” Lucas smiled as he sat next to me on the bed.

"Yes, but I'm confused Lucas. How can you know for sure that I'm your mate?” I questioned.

“I can't explain any other way but to say that when I saw you the first time I felt complete. I knew that you were the one. My wolf knew that you were the other half of his soul. I know that you feel it too. What we have Carra is a gift. Not all shifters find their mate.”

“When wolves find their mate we mark them letting all other shifters know that you belong to someone and that you are mated.” He said meeting my eyes.

“How exactly do you mark your mates?” I asked eyes wide.

“Well, I would bite you on your shoulder at the base of your neck.” He said placing his finger on the spot to show me.

“Will it hurt?”

“Just at first for a second or two. The next step of the mating process is for us to…” he trailed

off.

“Is to what?” I asked.

“We have to have sex.” He rushed out.

“What? No way, I barley know you. I’m not giving it up just like that,” I said a frown on my face.

"The s*x part can wait but I would like to mark you tonight.”

“Why are you in such a hurry? Why can't we just take our time with all this?” I asked wanting to slow all this down.

“I had Stephen do a little digging into Adam and it turns out that Adam is a shifter too. His dad is the alpha of his pack.”

“What does that mean for me.” I asked needing to know.

“It means that when Adam comes for he's bringing his pack. There starting a war between our pack by trying to take you from me. He thinks you’re his mate Carra. If we are mated there's nothing that he can do. Once you mark someone it can't be undone.” He said taking my hand in his.

“Lucas I’m not sure if I’m ready to belong to someone like that.”

“I know you’re scarred but I promise you that it’s not as bad as your thinking. This is something that works both ways. I’ll belong to you too." He said smiling at me.

Lucas's P.O.V

I had to convince her that her letting me mark her was a good idea.

"All I’m asking is that you let me mark you. I need to know that you are safe.” I pleaded.

I saw all the different emotions flash in her eyes. I knew that this was a big thing for her.

“I’ll do it. I trust you Lucas.

“Thank you, Carra. I know that this is all a lot to take in.” I said pulling her close to me.

Tingles shot throughout my body. I knew she felt them too when her breathe caught. This was the most we had ever touched. She leaned her head to the side barring her neck for me.

As I bent my head I whispered,” I love you Carra.”

I inhaled her scent and bit down hard enough to break the skin. I felt a rush of emotions that I knew were not mine. Her eyes widened, and I knew the same was happening to her. She shivered when I licked my mark making sure that it would heal quickly.

"Finally your mine." I said with a smirk.

That was the last thing I said before she punched me in the eye.
