It was another day in Athens, I was sitting in a well-known district cafe, sipping lemonade. Winters are the teeth chattering season, especially in here, it would be freaking cold during long nights whereas, during days, I saw only a few people around on the districts and snow-covered lanes.
My days in Athens doesn't really go well. I and my mom just shifted here and it's been more than a week but still, I am not getting used to it. As thirteen years old mortal, I seem to be totally out of the world usually daydreaming and plus, I am having a hard time making friends here in Saint Mary. I go deep indulge in every little thought I have, it isn't my fault I lose interest in the class, it's just my mind has more things to go through than paying attention to some 'World War and French civilization' History stuff or Science.
"Chrissy, are you listening?", there she goes again, my mom. She has been lecturing me for like an hour after getting a detailed report from my teacher for being absent-minded.
"YES!"
"I don't think so, it seems you are not even a bit interested in what we are talking", she said in a furious tone.
"Mom, come on. Let's just end it here. I don't want to go any further than this".
"Further? You think I had been wasting my one and a half hour just trying to make you understand not to make me feel ashamed of you", her voice seems broken.
"You are ashamed of me? Really mom? But why? Did I do something shameful that you are feeling ashamed ?",now it was really getting me in a bad mood.
"Chrissy, your teacher just reproved you in front of me and all other students. Do you know how humiliating that was for me? Have some shame!"
I swear if I ever meet that teacher again, I will definitely strangle her...
"That teacher detests me! I have seen her backbiting me thrice. She is some kind of an ogre", I protested.
"Christina, just snap out of that fantasy world of yours and stop calling her a monster. Have some respect while conversing about your teacher ", her mood's really bad now.
"Mom, that's not what I meant to say...I..mean let bygones be bygones, just forget about it, I am feeling sorry but the way you are talking and scolding me is making me more and more depressed and guilty", I cried.
" Fine Chrissy, if you don't want me to continue, I won't but let me remind you once more, this is the very 6th time since your teacher had phoned me just for your mistakes and mischiefs, I am not going to take any more of it. I am just making it clear to you and if this happened again, you are grounded forever", she demanded.
"I promise", I replied.
"Don't break it like you always do".
"I won't", I insisted.
SERIOUSLY, this is just enough, how can my mom take sides of the ogress but not me. I told her everything and for like weeks I am telling it to her but none of this mattered, it seems she just closes up her ears when it comes to me and my explanations, she so much ignores my problems and my sufferings. I am getting a real feeling of her hating me and now I know it, she just can't stand me, she hates me (a lot).
"Chrissy, look, I don't want to make a big fuzz about it but please hear me out just for the sake of your mother. I know losing someone who's been so close to you really is painful and having someone getting replaced in her place is even worse. I know it's hard for you but it same goes for me. We need to corporate and understand each other and that's how things can get better and work between us. I sure am your stepmom but I love you as if your my own", she calmly spoke.
"Maybe that's not the problem here, the problem is literally me and just accept the fact that you hate me and you married my dad only because you needed money_"
"Chrissy, I really lo_"
"NO! You don't, and I know that. You are acting nice and friendly just to impress my dad. You seem to love me but that's just for show, the hatred for me is erupting like a volcano on the inside". I can't believe my own words.
"I am going away as far as I could from you and hopefully from dad, you don't understand me", and just like that, I left.
