"You really got yourself a good one there, Jinx," Mom said, giving me a knowing smile. She had just dropped Waylen off, and he went barreling into the house to find Deidra. "I'm so glad you aren't dumb like your father. Most of you are better men than the old timers were. It's nice to not have to worry about you."
"Most of us?" I asked with a laugh.
Mom knows that Dad told me and Adam about their past. One night at Sunday dinner, they actually sat Birdie and I down and talked to us about it. Dad had let sh.it slip, and I think they both decided it was time to lay it all out for us. What Dad said was true, he did push Mom away in the worst ways. And apparently there were lots of lies
