Caging The Wolf

He watched her eat and it was a battle keeping his wolf at bay. Her small hands held her fork, hands he wanted to hold behind her back as he devoured her insides. He watched as her lips closed over the fork as she put the food in her mouth. He almost let out a moan as he imagined that mouth, soft and warm wrapping around his d**k. He imagined that mouth gasping for air as he sent her into pleasant oblivion with pleasure. His eyes flashed as his wolf almost surfaced. He shifted in his chair in the process of keeping back his wolf and Belle rose her head and looked at him in amazement. "Is everything alright?" she asked. "Yes," he whispered then he cleared his throat and said in a much clearer voice "Yes I am." Belle noticed that his voice sounded different the first time he answered. His voice was normally beautiful and had a menacing quality to it but it sounded different then. It sounded more dangerous —feral even, but the sound of it made her feel a sweet tingle down her spine. Maxton focused his attention on his food and ate it quickly. When he was done, he gulped down two glasses of wine. He was happy that she seemed to be eating the food without any fear. He'd told her to trust him and she had, without any second thoughts. Despite how naive that was of her, he couldn't help but admire it. The childishness he'd noticed about her made him attracted to her the more. His phone rang and he saw it was his mum calling. He considered not answering but realized it could be an emergency call. "Excuse me," he said to Belle before taking the call. "Hello mother," he said as he answered. "Where are you Maxton?" his mum said with anger in her voice. "I'm not home," he simply answered. "I know. That's why I asked!" she snapped. "Aren't you supposed to see Willow today?" "Was I?" he answered cockily. "Look here young man, no one goes against my wishes. I fixed a date for you with Willow today and you choose to disobey me. I just hope you're not with that Fairmont girl. For your sake I hope!" his mum thundered before hanging the phone up. He closed his eyes to calm himself off the anger brewing up in him. He loved his mum but she could raise hell in him sometimes. Belle had been watching as he talked to his mum. She'd also noticed the changes in his expressions throughout the call. From the calm of when he answered the call to the cocky smile that had come to his face at a point and then the anger that had followed. He had closed his eyes and seemed to be trying to keep his anger down. He looked so beautiful yet so scary and she was tempted to reach out and touch his beautiful face. "I normally count down from a hundred when I'm trying to calm myself," she blurted out. Maxton slowly opened his eyes and stared at her. He noticed that when she'd seen his eyes, she squirmed in her chair. She looked flushed and was biting her lips in embarrassment. If only she knew how that gesture of hers affected him. He felt calm as he looked at her. Normally, he'd have attacked whosoever interrupted him at such a moment but it was different with her. Her voice, rather than throwing him into a rage had instead calmed him. "Thank you," he said and quickly added, "for the tip. I'll remember it next time." She blushed and mumbled something that sounded like 'you're welcome' under her breath. He continued to stare at her and this time his wolf was determined to be let out. His wolf had never felt this way with any other woman before. He seemed so eager to reveal himself and mate with Belle. The sun was starting to go down and it was starting to get dark. He checked his watch and realized it was already four in the evening. "We're leaving," was all he suddenly said to her as he rose from his chair. She looked at him in shock. Had she done something? Had she said something? Her heart raced wildly. She couldn't believe she had messed up the one chance she had. He went and helped her with her seat as she rose. He heard the rate at which her heart was beating so fast and it excited him. The combination of her raging heart and her perfume made him feel so heady that he brought his lips so close to her neck. He caught himself suddenly and drew far away from her. This woman was doing things to him he couldn't control. He had to stay far away from her before he did what he'd regret. They walked to the elevator and got in. He punched the button for the ground floor. They stood side by side in the elevator without saying a word. Her head was held down and her hands clutched her purse between her hands. She was staring at the floor trying so hard to keep her tears from falling. Why had she said what she'd said about counting backwards? Why hadn't she just minded her business? Now she'd pissed him off and he wouldn't want to see her again. She'd messed up her whole plan and now Landon would die. Maxton couldn't help but stare at her. She was so beautiful he couldn't help it. He had acted on the impulse to leave because he knew it would be hard to hold his wolf down once the sun was gone. He had almost exposed himself. He shifted closer to her so he could inhale her scent better. He took deep breaths with his eyes closed as he basked in her scent. He knew this scent will haunt him for many a night. He gently rose a hand and inconspicuously touched her hair. It felt like silk beneath his hands. He noticed that not only was her heart racing but her chest was rising and falling conspicuously. This made his gaze fall on her breasts. Perky beautiful breasts he thought. The right size to fit in his hand and capable of breastfeeding his babies. That thought made him stop in his tracks. Did he just think of having babies with this woman? Who was this woman? What was she doing to him? He'd never thought of having kids, not that he was opposed to it, it was just something he'd never thought of happening and here he was, out of the blues imagining it happening with some woman he'd just met. He moved to the extreme end of the elevator. He had to keep enough distance between himself and this woman lest he regrets his actions. She felt him move away from her and she nearly burst into tears. It took all of her willpower to control herself. Not only was she doing it to save her hide from being caught, but she was hell-bent on not embarrassing herself by letting Maxton see her tears. She was a Presley and Presleys weren't losers. The elevator came to a stop and Belle walked out without even glancing at Maxton. Maxton followed behind his eyes on her throughout. They walked out of the restaurant as the receptionist bid them a nice day. Belle snorted at the receptionist's remark. How ironic she thought, not only was her day going to be ruined from now on, but her life included. Maxton opened the door for her and told the valet to go get his chauffer when he got outside. As they waited, Maxton said, "thanks for today Belle," in a voice so smooth and strong. She had not heard this voice of his before. Despite her sadness and pain she couldn't help but think of how beautiful it sounded. Like warm milk, she thought. She looked up at him, the first she'd done ever since he'd said they should leave and stared into his eyes before nodding. She was scared if spoke, the tears she'd been holding would fall. The chauffeur brought the car to where they were and Maxton told the driver to take her home. Maxton opened the car door himself and helped her in. Once she was seated comfortably he said, "Goodbye Belle," with his usual menacing voice, then shut the door and walked back into the restaurant without as much as casting a glance at her. She watched him as he walked away and she felt her heart constrict with pain. Watching him walk away was like watching her life walk away from her. He was her hope of getting the one thing she ever wanted —saving Landon and rather than become part of her life, he was walking away from it. Now she realised her lies were not enough. She should have tried harder.
