The escape from the hospital had gone so smoothly that Tammy had to wonder if she was dreaming. Not a single person tried to stop her; the she noticed, no one even looked twice at her as she crossed the parking area and stepped into the grassy flat that lay before the woods and perceived freedom. Matt and the wonderful years they had spent with one another weighed heavy on her mind; she already thought of him and those years as the past. The trees of the wooded area loomed larger in front of her; her future lay somewhere beyond those pines and oaks and hickories. Was she doing the right thing?
