Thomas was listening to the interrogation when Diane asked Wendy why she had murdered Alonso Capri.
" Hold it Diane," he said. Diane sighed as Thomas told her to stop. She got up from her seat and went out of the interrogation room.
"What is it you're doing Thomas?" she asked.
"Capri is not on the list, Diane."
"I could have stayed at home if I had known you'd be defending your criminal girlfriend."
"For the record she's not my girlfriend, Diane." he said surprisingly. Diane looked at him and raised her eyebrows.
"Did I hear you say, what I think you just said?" she asked him.
"Okay look Diane...." he sighed
"Go on lover boy,I'm listening." Diane said moving closer to him and bending her head towards him. Thomas couldn't say a word but looked at Diane.
"Fine go ahead with the interrogation," he blurted out. Diane went back in and took her seat and faced Wendy.
"Sorry for the brief interruption...."
"Still sorting your love life out with that no good officer?" Wendy asked interrupting her.
"What?" Diane asked.
"I wonder why you're waste your time chasing after him." Diane was speechless. This was new to her. Why was Wendy suddenly against Thomas?
"Sorry Wendy, but you're under interrogation." Diane replied back.
"Yeah, I get it. I go to prison you get to have all the fun. Is that the plan?"
"Wendy you are being interrogated for the murder of Mr. Alonso Capri,"
"I don't know anyone by that name." she said
"Wendy, make my work easy and tell me what you know about the murder?" Diane said like she was imploring her.
"Murder? I've never even held a toy gun much more a real one," she said.
"So what are you saying , that you're innocent?"
" I'm not the one you should be looking for.You arrested the wrong person. " Wendy looked straight into Diane's eyes after she said that. She saw the confusion in Diane's eyes and smiled at her. Diane was speechless. She got up and went out of the interrogation room to meet Thomas.
"Who did we arrest Thomas, if she's not the murderer?" With folded arms she looked at Thomas questioningly.
"It's why I told you not to go ahead with your interrogation of the murder. "
"Thomas I don't like what's going on,"
"Diane we have a suspect. Interrogate the suspect and not pin the murder on her." he told her. Diane rolled her eyes in disbelief.
"Interrogate the suspect?" Thomas nodded
"Are we sure she's the killer? I mean do we even have evidence of her involvement?" Thomas asked
" So what are you saying I do now?" Diane asked
"Get over with it as fast." he told her.
"Fine, then that's what I'm going to do right now." She went back into the interrogation room and sat opposite Wendy.
"You're right he's a no good cop. Miss Wendy Harvey, my apologies." Diane got up about to leave.
"So can I go now or what?" Wendy asked confused. Diane smiled at her.
"You're free to go. It's a case of..uh shall I say mistaken identity?" She held out her hands to shake Wendy. Both women held each others hands.
"Have all the fun you want with that no good cop. You won't be going to prison anymore." Diane left the interrogation room leaving Wendy still confused.
Diane walked up to Thomas and gave him back the file.
"Here, it's best you close this case since she's not the person we're looking for." Thomas took the file and watched Diane walk away.
"Diane?" She turned around and looked at him
"You hate her don't you?" he asked.
"If I did, I wouldn't listen to you." Thomas sighed, "But it baffles me you're taking sides with her."
" it's supposed to be us, right?" Thomas asked. Diane gave out a short giggle
"I used to think it could happened. Now, no and I'm not bothered anymore."
"Okay."
"It's your life. Have all the fun you want with her." she said as she turned to walk away. Then she stopped and turned back to face him again.
"One more thing Thomas. Next time a case like this comes up, don't count on me." She walked out of his sight. Thomas turned and found Wendy staring at him.
"What are you going to do now?" she asked him
"About what?" he asked her
"About her. She's in love." Wendy said a little saddened.
"Let's get out of here first," he told her. He held her hand and they left the Police station. Once outside Wendy pulled away from him and walked ahead of him.
