Chapter Twenty Three Asmeria blushed as she stared right at him. She finally reached his height with the stool she was standing on but she still wasn't able to get the book which was embarrassing. “Thank you.” She mumbled as she took the book from him. As she tried to get off the shelf, he pinned her against it, trapping her between him and the shelf. “Are tiy trying to run from me?” He asked with a raised brow. “Run from you?” She questioned before looking around. “No I'm not. You helped me with something and I thanked you.” “Don't you think I deserve more than a thank you?” He asked, being flirty. Asmeria tried her best not to laugh. She couldnydeny the fact that he looked cute the way he was standing there, looking down at her. “Being flirty doesn't suit you.” She replied. “It really does not fit you at all.” “Are you trying to say I look hotter when cold? I guess I should go back to being myself.” He said with a smirk and she couldn't help but giggle. She wondered what was wrong with him to make him his nice tonight. He leaned away from her and didn't say any word to her before turning to leave. “You should have dinner and come back into the room. It's not good to stay up late.” He said, his hands in his pocket as he walked away from her. She wondered why he was suddenly acting that way. He was all nice a minute ago and now he was all cold with his hands in his pocket, walking away. “Isn't he weird.” Her wolf mumbled but Asmeria said nothing and just walked back to her seat. As she sat there, a maid walked over to her, wheeling the cart in. “His Majesty asked me to bring you dinner, my lady.” The maid said, clearing the table before her to set the food. Asmeria just focused on her book and nodded as the maid set her food. “Young master is requesting for you also, my lady. The maids are preparing him for bed.” “Did he have dinner already?” Asmeria asked the maid who nodded her head positively. Asmeria hurriedly finished her dishes before walking out of the library, leaving her book midway before going to Evander's room. As she she got into Evander's room, she was just walking out of the bathroom with one of the maids that just arrived in the palace. “My lady.” The maid bowed and Asmeria waved at her before walking towards Evander, lifting him in her arms. “So, why are you calling momma?” She asked him, putting him into bed and he gestured to the maid to come. “Momma, see Ellie, she's my favorite maid now.” Evander said and Asmeria looked up at her, looking for the reason why Evander just told her she was his favorite. “Did you spell him?” Asmeria said jokingly and they all burst out laughing. “Why do you like her sweetheart?” She asked him, ruffling his hair gently. She knew Evander never said he liked someone apart from her and Rolfe. He never even allowed anyone to stay in his room among the maids. “Young master almost drowned while he was looking for his golf ball, my lady.” Ellie explained and Asmeria shot Evander a glare, which made him laugh nervously. “It wasn't intentional momma. I just wanted to get my ball.” Evander pouted. “And Ellie saved me, so she's now my favorite maid.” “Thank you very much, Ellie for preventing him from drowning himself. He's very troublesome whenever he wants to be.” Asmeria said, snuggling Evander into a warm hug. “Don't do that next time baby, there's a lot of golf balls in the box. Who exactly gave you that golf to play?” “My etiquette teacher.” He replied and a sigh escaped Asmeria's lips as she dismissed Eliie before singing Evander's lullaby to him. After he fell asleep, she slipped out of his room and headed back to hers and Thorian's room. As she stepped out of the room Thorian was stepping out of the shower and she walked in to see him half naked, the towel he had wrapped around his waist. As gasp escaped her lips she clasped her hands over her mouth to prevent herself from screaming. “What is it? It's not the first time you're seeing me half naked, is it?” He asked, walking right in front of her towards the dressing room. “You look annoyed. What's wrong?” “I want Evander to stop taking these sully classes. He can be whatever you want him to be and not learn all these unnecessary things.” She said, folding her arms across her chest with her gaze focused on his. He walked towards the dressing room before walking out, his pajama pants all while his shirt wasn't on yet. “What's wrong? Why don't you want him to take the classes?” He asked, pulling the shirt on with a raised brow. “My son almost drowned while golfing. What does ruling have to do with golfing?” She asked in anger and he stared right at her with a raised brow. “That shouldn't be. He shouldn't be golfing on water.” He replied and Asmeria stared at him, her arms still folded across her chest. “Well, he was golfing and ended up in the water.” Asmeria replied and Thorian let out a sigh. “We talk about business and alliances over golf and horse riding events.” Thorian replied, walking past her to the mini bar, pouring himself a glass of alcohol. “He needs it if he wants to be able to negotiate well with their attention on him.” Thorian looked at her with a raised brow, as if asking her if she was satisfied with his answer or not which annoyed her. “What do you mean by that? You aren't even worried that Evander almost drowned and if not for a maid he would have drowned? Do you even have any reasonable security here? Do I have to sit with my son all day long to be sure of his safety?” She yelled angrily and he slammed the glass with him on the counter angrily. “You don't yell at me. Is he dead? Is anything wrong with him? It's all part of training so I don't see why you should be so worked up about it.” He yelled at her and she was taken aback. “Well then, fine.” Was all she said before heading towards the bathroom. He could tell she was angry and he smashed the cup with him angrily. “Damn, why do I always have to lose control.” He said through gritted teeth. No one has ever yelled at him since he took over his role as the ruthless Lycan. Asmeria took a quick bath and as she walked out of the bathroom, she was putting her hair up. She had changed into the comfortable clothes she had always arranged in the bathroom. “Where are you going?” He asked her as she headed towards the door but she ignored him. He got out of bed, suddenly grabbing her arm to pull her back. “Don't you are ignore me Asmeria Blackthorne.” He said with a low growl, pinning her against the door.
