Chapter Twenty Two
Thorian buried himself in work after his last encounter with Asmeria and she barely saw him around anymore and she wasn't complaining about it at all. If she was asked, she was very glad she had him out of her face for a while. Asmeria sat in their room on the rocking chair before the fire.
The weather had been cold lately and although she didn't like it, she had to bear with it. It was always cold here in Thorian's pack and that was why she loved the rogue camp more. It was on the warmer side of the country which which she always found even more pleasing than this environment she was in.
“I'm bored.” Her wolf groaned as she moved back and forth in chair, staring at the fire crackle..
“You don't have to tell me. I'm even more bored than you are.” Asmeria said with a groan before forcing herself up, heading towards the door. Everyone around her had been busy with one thing or the other. Even Evander was busy learning while she just had to sit indoors all day without doing anything and it frustrated her to the core.
Asmeria grabbed her gown, walking out of the room. As she strolled down the corridors. She suddenly walked straight into a group of maids who were heading towards her room. “My lady,” They all bowed and she waved slightly. “His majesty asked us to bring these clothes for you to try on. The royal seamstress made them all specially for you.” The head maid informed her and she looked at the clothes neatly folded in the wooden box in her hands.
“Since I have nothing better to do, then let's return to the room.” Asmeria replied, turning back towards the room and they all followed her without questioning.
As they got into the room, the fresh scent of roses filled their nostrils. They've always wondered how she was able to keep her humility after marrying the Lycan, to be able to do her chores herself because no maids was assigned to the room yet. They never go into the room to clean without Thorian's permission unless they sought death.
Placing the box of clothes on the floor, they started to help Asmeria in dressing. She hadn't really taken it up to wear the traditional dresses more and she knew why when they were dressing her up.
She felt uncomfortable right from the socks they were pulling up her legs and go add the tight corset she had to wear underneath her dress. “Do you like this one, my lady?” They asked, turning her to look at her reflection in the mirror.
The yellow clothing was soft and she loved the texture of the dress. If only she could wear it without this additional accessories underneath. “It's beautiful.” She replied gently, trying to get herself to leave the grip of the corset. “Do I have go wear the corset underneath? Please get it off.” She said with a groan and they all nodded before doing as she asked.
She let out a breath of relief as the corset fell off her body. She wondered how women wore those and haven't suffocated yet. “I'll try the rest on without the corset.” She said, emphasizing on the word “without” to show how serious she was.
“Yes, my lady.” They all bowed before they helped her to get dressed in the rest.
“I love them all, thank you for taking your time to help me.” She said, curtsied and they did the same before walking out of the room.
“I prefer indoor dresses to those. Those dresses are hideous.” Her wolf gagged in disgust.
“They aren't that bad, but I don't fancy them.” She said, tucking them away in the dressing room. “Well, I can't tell Thorian that. He isn't the most understanding person in the planet at all.”
“So what can we keep our company with? Because if we don't leave this room or do anything fun, I'll lose my mind.” Her wolf groaned in boredom. “I wonder how Asannah is able to bear with all this boredom since all these years. Goodness, I can't deal with it.” She groaned.
“Asannah has friends, I have none here because I'm the adopted omega daughter in an alpha family so I'm literally an outcast here.” She replied, walking out of the room go head towards the library where she knew she would at least get a fun book to read and keep her company while she scales through the whole day.
“Being an omega doesn't matter. I can do what an alpha can do if I train to that extent. I hate this environment always judging people.” Her wolf groaned, rolling her eyes as she pushed the wooden door open, heading into the library which was filled with huge bookshelves.
The bookshelves scaled from floor to ceiling and each and every part of it was filled with book, all neatly cleaned. Asmeria pitied those maids who clean that because she was sure it must be cleaned on a basis of two days. Thorian hated dust and he most likely comes to the library daily.
“Why have I been bored these past few days? I didn't realize there was this much book.” She squealed in excitement as she walked through the bookshelves aisles to get into the other one, trying to get the perfect book to read.
As she scaled through the entire shelf on the aisle, she walked over to the chair and table to settle down and start reading. The maids walked over to her with a tray of tea and she thanked them, not getting her face away from the book in her hand.
“No one knew she loved books that much.” One of the maids wiping the windows whispered to the other.
“Will his majesty approve of her being here? He never allows anyone to read in the library because he's always here at least half of the day to get things.” The other whispered to her.
Asmeria heard all they were saying but just ignored them her head still buried in her book. She stayed there till it was evening and Evander already knew she was there. He didn't want to disturb her so he turned back to his room, doing the same.
He got his reading hobby from his mother and he hated it at first but he eventually got used to it and grew go love it as much as she does at his very young age.
Asmeria stood from her seat, stretching lazily as she looked down at the amount of books she has read. “So much.” She whispered to herself as she saw the large book she had finished and the second one in her hand.
Thorian watched her from upstairs with so much interest. He didn't know he had been staring at her for over five minutes now with a smile on his face.
He didn't know why he was so intrigued by the fact that she didn't notice anything going on around her as she was so engrossed in the book.
Asmeria suddenly stood up with a squeal as she dashed into one of the aisles. Thorian walked down the stairs, heading towards the aisle she was in. She was standing on the stool, trying to reach a book above her and she groaned in frustration as a pout appeared on her lips.
Thorian chuckled before walking towards her. He stood behind her, grabbing the book. She suddenly turned stiff as she felt his chest touching her and his hand stretching out to take the book she was still unable to reach with the stool.
“I never knew you loved reading that much to miss lunch and dinner all in the name of reading.” He said calmly and she suddenly turned her head towards the windows. She hadn't realized it was night time already.
“Holly Molly.”
